So in effect if Wigan beat Fulham (who by half time will have nothing to play for if Albion are spanking QPR and will bring all there big guns off for the play offs days later !) they will probably escape any punishment as even with -12 they stay up ! So in effect there is no punishment! Why don't they say you are relegated ! If the 12 point penalty does not result in relegation, it will instead take effect from the start of next season, meaning they start on minus12.

As I understand it, Wigan, Sheff Wed & Derby are still at risk of relegation, depending on the outcomes of the various reviews and the inevitable appeals if they trigger a relegation.

HT Wigan winning 1-0, Charlton losing 2-0 at leeds, Luton winning 2-1 Wigan would survive on G/D : relegated, Barnsley, Charlton & Hull 45 mins for it to all change!!!
as i was saying Wigan now 1-1 and with Barnsley winning at Brentford it is now Wigan relegated and Barnsley surviving!
Brentford equalise v Barnsley so now Charlton would survive with Wigan's deduction

If Wigan were relegated this season WITHOUT the deduction then -12 takes place next season. If they aren't relegated this season then the points are deducted this season and they may or may not be relegated.

Sheff Weds and Derby unlikely to be deducted this season as the the appeals etc will take too long I believe. Some EFL statment last week

Nice to see Charlton not quite such a big club as some of their fans think. Welcome back to L1. 😁

That last day of the championship was special and I'd feel absolutely devastated if I was Forest fan. 9 years without play offs now...

So Brentford (who will be on their knees) will be playing Swansea (who will be extatic) for a place at Wembley. What an unfair joke of a set up. Why is it the non league has the correct play offs set up, but the football league doesn't? One of many things the shambles set up that runs our game needs to look at..

Brentford = biggest bottlers ever, wont get a better chance anytime soon Bit like ourselves in 2018, although we were cut adrift with a few weeks to spare but we were in the top two all season until March weren’t we? Feel for Brentford, but I don’t expect them to win the play offs now.

Indeed, I quite like the set up of the play offs in the National League, think all play off games should be one legged now with the higher placed team at home, I can see Swansea winning the first leg at their place and then put 10 men behind the ball at Griffin Park, similar to how we lost to Torquay in 2011.

I really enjoyed EFL on Quest last night...great drama for a last day!
Colin Murray is certainly a passionate football fan, he certainly didn't hold back about the Wigan situation.

We could end up with an all Wales play off final.

Pleased that West Brom are up as I know someone working for their Foundation whose job probably depended on that happening. Equally, there must be others losing jobs because of what's happened on another pitch.
That's why I don't object to the principle of parachute payments - as long as they're only paid to ease the burden for non-playing staff.

Now we move on to the Premier League relegation weekend: Aston Villa, Watford, Bournemouth - who will go down?
Hope Villa stay up, Midlands football has been down for a while, would be good to have Villa, WBA and Wolves derbies.

Bournemouth been punching above their weight for a few years now, bout time they dropped back down to our level where they normally are. And be happy to see Watford go for their ridiculously timed sacking of Pearson.

Its a pretty sad indictment of the EFL and the Championship in particular (with the amount of debt reported) that relegation hasn't been decided on the pitch on the last day of the season. That so many clubs have no idea of the outcome. What a mess.

Absolutely. It’s a ludicrous situation which should have been avoided with more due diligence from the EFL I’m the first place.

Absolutely. It’s a ludicrous situation which should have been avoided with more due diligence from the EFL I’m the first place. It is a ridiculous situation, but not sure what the EFL could do to stop Derby and Sheffield Wednesday selling their stadiums, at allegedly inflated amounts. The dispute is whether that breaches FFP rules, which will be decided by an Independent Tribunal. No idea who they are or when they decide, but surely too late to change this seasons table now.

The one legged play off has suited Altrincham, who Town fans will be pleased to know beat Chester last week. They play York next. Neil Sorvel is Alty assistant manager.
