Downie will be along shortly The man who assumed Sunak and Patel were Muslims ? No, i just look at them as individuals humans, however i wont agree or disagree with Mrs Abbott as it's difficult to look at someone who is fundamentally racist that then complain's about racisum.

how can anyone not agree with the points she has raised in this article. Me.On the pulling down of statues i think its apalling these morons think they have a right to damage and deface historical figures simply because they feel like it.I know they are essentialy using the excuse these figures have links to historical rascism, but at those periods in history thats what happend, keep the monuments there have them to remind us what happend, and to make a future where people like that stay in the past. Also when you listen to people like diane abbot it sounds shocking the abuse shes recieved it makes it sound like the country is full of sick minded individuals, when in fact its just a very tiny amount of sick keyboard warriors, that are out there ready to spout bile on anything their sad existence warrants. My point is even if she recieved abuse by 50 thousand idiots, theres 60 0dd million who disagree with the hate these people spout.Granted nobody at all should be doing it but you will never stop some people wanting to do that sort of thing online.Very sad but very true. Now the clear rascism in parliament, now that is far more sickening than simply online morons.

You referring to her remarks made several years ago about how 'white people divided and ruled' (which is true, because otherwise Empire wouldn't have worked) or is it because the Tory Priti Patel says so?

No, its more to do with her comments on Black mothers being far better than white mothers and so on..... She didn't say that, I watched the programme when Neil interviewed her. She just said that "West Indian mums will go to the wall for their children". The bit that people like to miss out though is, it was because of the danger of 'black gangs' and the influence they have over the black community. In other words, people forget the specific context that she was talking about the Black community. Having said that, I can see how it is crass and ill considered when that context is removed, and she is a hypocrite considering her stance on private education.

good job she doesnt come to watch town because if one of our black players scored she would expect everyone in the ground to instantly know his name, she'd be horrified to hear us all asking, who was it, was it EBANKS, was it PIERRE ?,
it doesnt matter that exactly the same questions are asked after every goal, black, white or whoever, it doesn't matter, unless you are playing the race card

This isn't about being Labour, or being a Tory, racists don't give a what political party BAME people represent. Look, you think she's playing the race card. Fine. Like I said speak for yourself. Downie or Martin can't see past her own alleged racism. Again, fine, they can speak for themselves.

I started reading the article and immediately disagreed with it, I never read any more
I totally agree with her when she pointed out that people were mixing her up with the 'other black mp'. but thats life sorry and it's not racist, in 2007 I changed job and was suddenly working in a large office in the centre of Birmingham , im not good at remembering names, but had over 100 new ones to learn, its totally fine if you mix up the white people but get the black ones mixed up and some are always fully prepared to make you feel awkward

There's no doubt Abbot is a hypocrite, but is she isn't racist.
The comments she made about white people dividing and conquering are true, the British Empire wouldn't have worked otherwise.
And considering that the idea of Empire was based on one race (white) subjugating other races (black, brown, indigenous, etc) it's a bit rich given her heritage and the history of colonialism to suggest that with these comments are racist.
The context of her comments are clearly laid out in the tread linked.
What is really interesting about this thread is how it's about Abbot being racist, while ignoring her wider points and her daily dealings with racism that she faces today.
Interesting indeed.
