Prime a 2016 film The Nice guys the chemistry between Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling combined with some good dialouge make this an enjoyable film with some dark themes but the 15 year old Angourie Rice who plays Ryans daughter nearly steals the show
a Netflix Film Extraction , starring Chris Hemsworth is a better than average action film .
back on netflix, The nest season of the Lost Kingdom
one blast from the past SS-GB now on netflix had mixed reviews when it was released by the BBC i was disapointed that a second series never materalized.

what has always annoyed me most about flicking through the channels and finding something on sky is the likes of "gold" and their repeats
a day or 2 ago I stumbled across an episode of dads army
and later I saw another one was about to start, and yes it was the same one, WHY ?
lots of channels seem to do this, instead of staggering the episodes they play the same one several times before moving on
its beyond me

Just discovered BFI (British Film Institute) player. There's masses of fascinating stuff there; some feature films, shorts, information films, documentaries - classic things like The Night Mail and, er, Tufty. There's a lot on the free service or you can subscribe (about a fiver a month after the initial 14 days) and that has loads of great films, especially if you're a foreign language film watcher like me.
Mark Kermode provides recommendations too.
Has anyone tried BritBox by the way? Quite interested in that but don't seem to be able to see what's on there without starting the free trial.

Great documentary on BBC2 at the moment on the Boomtown Rats. might look at it later although I really dislike bob geldoff, if only someone else could have created live aid, I'd probably like him more and his head wouldn't be so large

just out of interest, am I on my own or does anyone else no longer have dreams of waking up next to Charlie Dimmock ? Never did in the first instance but yes she’s not really looked after herself. Often find myself thinking there must be more to it. She almost looks ill. I’m going with a drink problem.

On iPlayer for the next 3-4 weeks is "The Age Of Shadows", which was broadcast very late last weekend. It's a recent Korean film set in the 1920s, the first to be financed by a Hollywood studio I think.
I knew nothing of the background but it's about the Korean resistance to Japanese occupation. The Japanese attempt to infiltrate the resistance and the resistance seeks to turn a senior Korean police officer (at least I think that's what he was - it was very late!). I thought at first it was going to be an implausible action film but it developed into something much more interesting and I was totally gripped by the end. A word of warning - there are some horrible, though mercifully brief, torture scenes.
I think I'll watch it again properly when I'm fully conscious and not thinking I ought to get to bed.

I didn’t know that. Poor bugger.

My Chinese hosts me to a museum in Nanjing which was dedicated to exhibits about the Japanese occupation of the city in the 1930s. This was over 20 years ago but I can’t forget some of the horrific photos.
