Certainly worth breaking the record for. Classy player who'd link the midfield and attack.

I trust that Docherty will at least come under consideration by us in January.
McCormick might as well be sent back to Chelsea. He's well down the order and unlikely to get much game time.

It would be really good if we could get him. We like him, he likes us, what could possibly go wrong?!!!!

We've missed a John Nolan player this season, someone who can create something out of nothing. Docherty IMO would solve this and could potentially turn an average season into something better.

In recent weeks
Morrison retired Lang got injured Udoh also out Fejiri firing blanks John Lewis almost back and it seems most want us to get rid without even seeing him play
Let’s buy another midfielder that will solve it 😜

I don't think Docherty was too far off from being the top goal scorer for the season when he was here...

One that will have resale value and was excellent with us when on loan. Of course if we could, we should.. but I highly doubt we can or will! Caldwell did meet up with him after the transfer window closed mind so there is at least a close relationship there.. Do you think John Lewis is going to be a better player after injury then? Because we have all seen him play and unless you watch matches blind drunk, he’s a conference standard player.

Sorry for being a realist again 😜

I suspect Rangers would be happy to recoup £500-600k and we could pay that, I doubt we will though. He really would be the missing link between midfield and attack for me, cracking player.

600k for a player who can’t get into a Scottish premier side Presumably as he still doesn’t get or keep himself fit
Even Ian McNeill wouldn’t have made such a crazy risk
Oh no wait , we’ll be selling him for £2m , I forgot that

I'm sure there will be a number of championship/league one sides who would be more than keen to sign him up.
I would hope that we would at least make an enquiry.

O'Leary Williams - Pierre - Beckles/Ebanks Love - Goss - Norburn - Giles Docherty Cummings - Fejeri/Lang
You can't say Docherty doesn't improve our midfield drastically.

it’s as pointless as buying a keeper slightly better than max
You still have an injured forward / forward who can’t score
in the style of dragons den
I’m out

If you want quality then you've got to be willing to push the boat out a bit more. Are we willing to do so?

In recent weeks Morrison retired Lang got injured Udoh also out Fejiri firing blanks John Lewis almost back and it seems most want us to get rid without even seeing him play Let’s buy another midfielder that will solve it 😜 But we beat Sunderland fielding a team with only one recognised striker and 2/3 attacking midfielders. Given the problems we've had making 3-5-2 work for us in attack, an attacking, goalscoring midfielder like Docherty could fit well into that system. Udoh shouldn't be out for long, Okenabirhie can rediscover some form and Lang could be back before January's out.

I think we might be forgetting his wages might be beyond our reach,. Didn’t SR pretty much say at the start of the season that Doherty would probably be beyond us now after last season’s showing?

You never know. Rangers might just be looking to balance their books and thinking ' right, where's the best place we can send Greg to make an immediate impact in January and thus double his book value by the summer?'
'somewhere where his attacking instincts will lead to goals and his tendency to be both a wee bit greedy and defensively suspect will be forgiven by the fans as both Stevie and Gary are struggling to improve this aspect of his game which is why they aren't starting him in our.....ahem...... obviously world-beating current midfield lineup..........probably'
'couldn't Shrewsbury Town use him again?' 'aye......remind me......which league are they in again?' 'the same one as Sunderland and Ipswich' 'that'll do..........ask them to send him back when he's worth around £2 million'

Ultimately, he's better than what we've got in that position so I'd happily see him back.
Thought Josh Laurent had a very respectable game on Saturday and provided some of those surging runs forward and a great assist so he clearly can do it but not often enough in my opinion. Docherty is more of a goal threat too. Would be a real morale boost in general if they got him back.

Are we willing to do so? if he is so good how come the only domestic game this season for rangers was a cup game v east fife in which they subbed him after an hour ? sure I'd take him on loan but no way would I even consider spending money on him I say hes a jimmy Ryan type player, could be great if he got fit but that's down to him

Don’t think his long term injury will have improved his football ability. Maybe a box to box player who is very fit and athletic will be just what we need. He makes chances and scores goals, what’s not to like. If he becomes available we would be mad not to make an attempt at signing him. welcome “ home” Greg.

He left here hoping to break into Rangers' first team. It hasn't happened. If he's surplus to requirements at Rangers, he's unlikely to be a hot property for Championship clubs. And, as good as he generally (not always) was for us, he was impressing in a struggling team at the lower end of League 1 - it's all relative. Those are reasons why it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he'll return whereas, with Godfrey and Henderson, we knew it couldn't happen. I wouldn't expect either a transfer fee or wages to be huge but realistically they might still be out of our reach. On the whole unlikely to happen but it would be a great boost to us if it did.
