At least Hurst changed it around 2nd half (or reverted to system team understood). Use of subs etc when things not going well was one of Hurst's weaknesses at Shrewsbury

I cannot see what's gone wrong . For several weeks in April and May, most fans, local media and the owner wanted Paul Hurst, his preference for lower league players, something different and a 'breath of fresh air' compared to the previous seasons.

Sorry to intrude but I have a look on your pages every now and again for obvious reasons. You'll see the team is without a win yet this season and while tonight was a welcome point against a good Brentford side the first half was very poor. We picked up a gear after the break and could have won it late on but that would have been unfair on the away side. Some were actually requesting Hurst's resignation a few days ago, I don't know if they were serious but you can understand people getting animated in the heat of the moment. I may have said before that the best the club can hope for with the new manager is stability. McCarthy offered that for six years and it was pretty painful to witness on occasion. Bringing in a new name from lower league was a risk, needless to say it hasn't really gone in our favour since the appointment. Essentially tonight we may have been fortunate to take something from the game as the first 45 was well below standard. And that's what worries me. It's not the first time we've looked totally inept in the first half of a game only to improve after the break. Teams that accomplish and prevail need to focus for near 90 minutes, that's how games are won. All very well saying 'well done' getting a point from it at the end but there's so much room for improvement at the club and time for new faces to fit in and adapt. After 17 years in the same league I feel as if we have all the time in the world. It's not much fun to be a Town supporter at the moment, had some bad news with the passing of Beattie but if he was looking down tonight he will have been proud of the way the team got back into it and showed enough character to take something from it and a useful opposition side. I think the problem that you/Hurst have, is that his model of bringing lower/non league players into Shrewsbury was fine as the players were not making too big a step up to league 1, and as Hurst had spent a number of years managing at that level, he was potentially able to identify players that could possibly make that step? However, when he moved to Ips**t, his database of potential players hadn’t really expanded to take into account him jumping ship to a higher level, and therefore he is expecting those same lower league potentials to make an even bigger step to cope with Championship football? As for the animosity towards Hurst and your club, well that is pretty obvious. Both Ips**t and Hurst (both who I used to respect) were so underhanded and dishonest, that any credit that 🐍 had built up due to our impressive season last year, was instantly eradicated when he confirmed his departure. People in the know were aware of his imminent departure and destination weeks before the playoff final. And no matter how many times I have this argument, nobody will convince me that it didn’t have an effect on the final!! Although my focus is largely on all things Salop, it is quite satisfying seeing Hurst struggle and an unsettled fan base. All us as supporters want is a bit of honesty, integrity and loyalty!! I would never begrudge anybody the chance if bettering themselves, but don’t treat us like dickheads- we deserve better than that!

Hurst is in a win-win situation. Succeed and he will be a hero, Fail and he will walk away with more cash than a bank robber, so he is unlikely to give a monkey’s what we think. The real villain, the Ipswich owner, is the one that will take a big hit if he has to pay off Hurst, Doig and possibly Skitt. He, after all, is the one who started this unpleasant process by tapping up another club’s manager, without the necessary permission from his employers. Without doubt, it had an adverse effect on our season end, so we are bound to have a sense of satisfaction if it all goes belly up for Ipswich and costs Mr Evans a shed load of money, and his team end up playing league games against us in the near future.

It seemed bizarre to me that Ipswich fans were celebrating the arrival of players in their mid-20s who'd never played at that level. I'm not surprised they're struggling but that was a decent result last night.

I wonder how they'd feel about him if he them from the bottom to auto-promotion? As for Hurst, it's not looking good.

What I don't get is the complaints about chopping and changing formations. That's one thing PH never did when he was here, and is an indicator that it is a big mess.

If it does go tits up at Ipswich then I reckon he’ll not be short of an offer or two. Wouldn’t surprise me if we’d be going up against him this season if Ipswich decide to make a change.

I looked on there forum and some are now realising what a good job Mick McCarthy did on a very small budget. under his management , they were 14th, 9th, 6th,7th,16th and when he left 12th. i read a recent interview he gave it was either the guardian or the mail and the gist of the interview he was very positive about the players ,the backroom staff, owner and made it very clear he had enough of the hostility, abuse and constant criticism from the fans, he had planned to leave at the end of last season but with four games left he had enough of them and who can blame him.

I suppose if pig-headed fans cause such a toxic atmosphere that Askey has to go it’s just about conceivable. Sounds far fetched at best though.

See no harm in giving Macclesfield and Ipswich a bell to check whether a do-over could be arranged. 27 league games between us and just the one win. What a big bubbling bag of rubbish that is.

They are on 3 year contracts...gives financial security to those on contracts and the club should anyone else come sniffing. Always a gamble whether it is management or players. Look at Nolan..massive transfer fee for him and he is under performing to the extent they think they have been sold a pup.

Look at Nolan..massive transfer fee for him and he is under performing to the extent they think they have been sold a pup. Don’t Hurst and Nolan share the same Agent? Definitely the same Management Company...so here’s a theory - Hurst pursuades the Ipswich Chairman to pay £££s for Nolan, saying that other clubs are interested (Leeds, Stoke and Norwich). Chairman thinks he’s about to outbid three rival Championship clubs for an up-and-coming player, Nolan’s (and Hurst’s) agent gets a decent % of any bonus that both Hurstband Nolan get on signing for Ipswich...three months later, Ipswich fans think they’ve been screwed over and now have a L1 player on s 3-yr contract... ...all sounds remarkably dodgy - which would suit Allerdyce if he does replace Hurst before the end of October!
