Have EFL rules changed then? Are we now allowed two gingers in the matchday squad?

Belive he was given both goals in that game (vs Wycombe) Quite right plus two assists one for each side I reckon El H....... I am just trying to compute the benefits of the transfer dealing with Coventry they get Junior Brown a real bundle of energy and a gem of a player first choice left back and a real fans favourite. We get Ryan Haynes a young lad who has his detractors amongst the Coventry faithful and we obviously need to shape and develop him, as their fans point out he was a second or third choice left back from what was until May a league 2 side. It's a good job the Double Johns have confidence in their coaching ability to get the best out of players and spotting a rough diamond and we must support them in their beliefs. Oh I am sure it probably helps Coventry pay the fee for Brown too, that's lucky too everyone wins.

The opposite view is they have Brown as back up to their established left back, whos not played for almost a year (by the time the season starts) and now has a bad knee injury noggle at the back of his mind (one of his best attributes was jumping and that might be effected) whos about to turn 30 and really has not sell on fee + maybe 50-100k We have a young lad who is not universally liked by Cov fans (who ever is when they leave) but at 22 has league one experience, was scouted by premiership teams within the last year and who could be better a a wing back than the left back roll he was forced to play at Cov last two seasons. A fresh start might be just what he needs. With the cash Cov probably JUST get the better of this deal (assuming Brown does not get injured again before Christmass) but its pretty 50/50 Think everyone comes out happy from this. Unless Haynes is total s**te and then all the above is a mute point!

Welcome to the Ginger Ninja
On first glance I'd rather have a young wing back than Junior Brown who is still crocked.

Unless Haynes is total s**te and then all the above is a mute point! Tbh, whilst most fans wish all the best for Haynes, the very full majority were looking for the club to move him on, so this is not a reaction view. He was regarded as a bright prospect when he stepped up into the first team. He has a good turn of pace, and used this to get down the wing to get in some cracking crosses (scored a few cracking goals as well). But the more we saw him play the more we saw the defensive frailties (poor positioning and sometimes a bit light in the tackle). Increasingly over the past couple of seasons, he has seemed almost lost on the pitch at times. I can't help thinking it's a confidence thing at least in part. It's also the case, as has been pointed out above, that if you can find the balance in the team to use him as a wing-back rather than LB then he may begin to shine again. Joining the Shrews marks a fresh start, and I very much hope it comes good for him and your team. Take care of him, and keep him out of the sun.

The new lad is almost 20% taller than Junior so hopefully he will be 20% better.

You keep your eye on Junior and beware that knee ligament doesn't go again - it's happened to us before and the player concerned ended up at Guisley.

So few players leave with unanimous praise - Ipswich fans were probably wondering why they appointed such a dud manager after reading our Hurst thread! Sounds like exactly the type of player (Whalley, Mangan, Brown, Toto, Nolan, Rodman, Payne) we have taken on and turned into top quality L1 players over the last 3 years or so. Delighted to be continuing that trend with a young lad who clearly has talent and just needs the right set-up to progress. All the best Ryan, looking forward to seeing your contribution to Askey's title-winning squad... No pressure!

I'd rather have this young kid, someone who wants to be at this club rather than someone who is looking elsewhere.

Beckels was generally class last year. Suited our system well and really helped when defending corners/set pieces etc. I would keep him and Bolton as full backs

I saw every game he played, most of them didn't. He is not a left back as he will tell you himself. There is no harm in wanting to improve every position. Opinions differ in football, but in mine, he was targeted at Blackburn, Rochdae, Wembley twice and was stupidly sent off at Bradford. He got away with wrestling on corners several times before getting found out against Rotherham.

Omar has said he's a Centre Half and wants to play there. He also said he started off on the wrong foot as he didn't have a proper pre-season so was behind Toto and Mat in fitness.
