It's ridiculous to judge someone this early, people do need to panic less. One thing i would say though is i don't feel as though he's come across well in his interviews so far.

Brilliant quote from Askey in his latest interview
“We’re hoping that someone might sign soon” 😂😂😂

It can't be any worse than Hurst's January dealings - Thomas, Hendry and Eisa. Probably just got into double figures for combined number of starts.

I’m not sure panic has set in yet, but there is certainly concern with the way things are heading (mainly out!!!)

He's only been here a week and he's had to look what he needs with out actually seeing what he's got already then go through agents of players who are on holiday and make them an offer, and that's all as well as trying to get answers we have already got. Give the guy a chance!

“What we don’t want to do is just be left with the dregs"
So anyone signing late in the transfer window will think the gaffer thinks they are dregs!! think he could chose his words a bit more carefully.
Not exactly installing confidence.

Throw in Lowe and the January dealings didn't produce 1 player who became a regular starter. And the failure to sign another striker cost us dearly, leaving us with just Morris, Payne and a bench warmer brought on 34 times in the last few minutes, but deemed not good enough to start even once. Contrast that with Armstrong at Blackburn, and Vaughan and Cole at Wigan.

This was the quote from the Shropshire star for Askey regarding out of contract and signed players. Askey has been in touch with out-of-contract players regarding their futures. When asked if he’d talked with the players he had inherited at Shrewsbury, the boss replied: “No. I don’t think there’s any need. If they’ve signed then they’ve signed.”
Personally I would have spoken to everyone of the players after becoming manager signed or not. Preferably chat face to face but certainly by telephone just to introduce myself and say I looked forward to working with them and find out if they had any concerns or questions, it is just good man management.
I suspect he has a lot on his plate but first job is always protect your assets and then build on them

Jesus, the poor bloke has only been here 5 minutes and he’s having his every sentence scrutinised. Really disappointed by some of our fans at the moment.

Time to take a sabatical from B and A methinks, otherwise it's going to be a long summer! I was thinking the same . When we've stopped sticking the boot into our ex players , rubbishing Askey for anything and everything and generally forecasting a season of doom and gloom because we have s**te players we can all take a well earned sabbatical from this board . Why? It's obvious , England are playing in the World Cup and we will need all our bile to direct at our national team . Lets take a step back shall we . Askey did well with Macclesfield , very well indeed . I have every faith in him . Of course we may not hit the heights of last season and I think that would have been the case under Hurst . Lets all get behind our new Manager , look foreward to watching our new team and be proud that we are the first club to install safe standing . Whats not to get excited about . COYB .

He's spoke to a couple of senior players (Sadler being one of them) and as he says, he will soon be meeting them all for pre season training anyway. Could he have made calls to the like of JB, Ogogo, Rodman etc begging them to stay? Maybe, maybe not but once a player decides the grass is greener elsewhere it's impossible to make them stay. JA has a thankless task but you would think his first set of signings should arrive soon and then we can start to assess the squad a little better.

B&A is never the best place to be when things are “going wrong”. Add in the fact that it’s the close season and nothing else to focus on means it is probably likely to be worse. Roll on the World Cup, at least for some it will give them something else to take their mind of STFC for a little while.

I would worry more if a flood of players came in quickly as that would suggest they are players with few other offers to weigh up, or we are paying over the odds.
We will not keep Ogogo, so let’s not panic if that is the next transfer activity.
We may be underwhelmed by some if his signings, but he has to be given a chance to mold a team.

Oh God, I dread the first lot of signings, this board will go into meltdown unless we sign Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, Bale and Salah. We all remember the negativity when we signed, Rodman, Brown, Whalley, Payne,Beccles, Bolton, Toto etc. Previous clubs message boards and Wlkipedia was all the information needed to condemn them as being crap signings.

He was very diplomatic about Craig, but said it will give him a chance to bring 2 keepers of his own in. He is only interested in Juan, two at most from Macc who he thinks can make the step up. He is speaking to players/agents and his phone hasn't stopped ringing.
He seems fully focused on the job, if he was panicking, he didn't show it. I'm not sure what any Juan wants him to do.

Does any Juan know if there's a broom cupboard at the meddah where we can lock Ogogo in and pass him a contract under the door, and tell him he's not coming out until he's signed it.

Transfer window doesn’t even open till 1st July, bloody morons anyone whinging Transfer window opened on 17th May and closes on 9th August. Clubs can sell players up until 31st August, however, they can NOT bring in replacements after the 9th August deadline. Therefore, we are already 3 weeks into the window, and have lost the majority of that due to play offs, holidays and managerial changes!!
