Think some of you are jumping the gun a bit - we have not signed a single player yet either but we have the same manager as last season. Why are you jumping on his back for not signing a player yet after just a week in the job?
In that week he would have had to learn about the budgets in place before then identifying positions that need replacing/strengthening. Your players are probably not even back from hols yet so he does not have much to go on. I am pretty sure he would identified potential signings but will want to see the squad up front and personal a bit more before making any drastic decisions.

Dont quite understand "we are in this position now because our old manager had drive and ambition " Is PH the only one out there with those qualities? ,confused. Just saying Askeys's cv doesnt read to me like that of a Manager who has some self aspiration and wants to get somewhere in the game...the exact opposite in fact. I have no idea how the new guys will do and I sincerely wish them every success and we have a good Season. Just why the hell would you stay at Macc for all those years if you wanted to challenge yourself at a higher level which is a quality that most of the younger Managers have these days, whether it does them any good or not, just bothers me a bit. A manager with no self aspiration?! Give the man a break! He’s only been a manager for 4 years. Appointed in April they finished 15th. Next season, 6th, then 10th then 1st after having to rebuild a squad with no money and financial problems. Seems like a pretty good record. Unless it’s going to bother you he’s not experienced enough now? Could have left to join Wrexham a couple of times- that would have been a step up in comparison but obviously not a decent enough step up.

Bickerton appointed him as Manager of Macclesfield in 2003. But he was replaced by Brian Horton in 2004. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rob-bickerton-column-1159601

Come on guys, give JA some time, he's only been in the Job 7 days. There is another 3 weeks to go before the start of Pre-Season. I'm sure JA and the chairman are working hard on getting their players.

You do have a fair point "greeny", I'd miss read wikipedia where he had 1 season as said above 2003-2004.....before Horton, then back 4 years ago,so fair point,my apologies... what did he do from 2004 onward??,was he a coach at Macc?? I dont know but I have read in numerous places that he has spent his entire career since his playing days at Macc.......anybody know the truth here? . Still strikes me that 53 is an odd age to become ambitious all of a sudden though.......I was planning my retirement at that age but have always been a lazy sod.

Isn't it about time someone created a separate board for all these people who love to spread doom and gloom about this Football Club on a regular basis. I for one am totally fed up of continually finding these posts throughout this board. Remember what happened last year,it was only the results in the last couple of months that failed to give us the automatic promotion we deserved with our apparent team of no hopers. Give the new Manager a chance to build his own team not criticise the lack of players coming into the Club. I can't remember Paul Hurst suffering this type of criticism when he was building his new team. The board has always been full of speculation regarding players who are supposedly arriving here but as last season proved, most of them were way off the mark. Be patient and wait and see what happens before you start your scaremongering. Rant over lol

This was always going to happen if we didn’t win at Wembley.
Who is still left from the team that started that day?
Bolton Nsiala Sadler Beckles
Whalley B.Morris Nolan Rodman
3 loanees have gone back and won’t be returning (we always knew that). Our sub keeper and LB who played 15 games last season has left, so what?
Ogogo is going to leave, he is simply a class player and I do not begrudge him a move after helping us avoid relegation and being a key player last season.
Please give Askey a chance. Hurst was given a chance because we literally couldn’t do any worse. Very different situation for Askey.
Hurst transfers were unproven loan players (Henderson and Godfrey) and unwanted League 2 players (Nsiala and Rodman). We know they are good now but at the time, I can remember not being overly excited by them.
I’m not going to pass any judgements on Askey until at least 10 games in.

I think everyone is down after Wembley and what followed. I certainly am. However, patience is needed and that's something I don't have much of admittedly. Even if the whispers were at the club about PH (and who knows?), nothing could be done about a replacement until everything was signed, sealed and delivered (presumably in a small package!).
People are worried because we have already lost two weeks on other clubs because of the playoffs. The fact that the final was such a disappointment hasn't helped at all. I'm sure it will all fall into place in time - the day may well come when we won't be able to keep up with the ins and outs I'm sure.

I know we are 2 weeks behind other clubs, but the transfer market seems pretty quiet.
