I’m going hoping to avoid defeat, I generally have quite a pessimistic attitude towards Town, away games in particular, so I look at this game and think a draw would be a cracking result. ‘On paper’ their squad is better then ours, they’re at home and it’s almost a must win for them, but with Hurst in charge and the organisation of this side, we always have a chance. On paper we're 2nd and they're 3rd, by a decent margin at that. No reason why we can't win the game, we certainly shouldn't be going to Blackburn to park the bus. Yep at 10 games in you might think it's a "false position" but 25 games in you're in "league table doesn't lie territory".

Plus I'm hearing of the biggest signing of the season so far. A very well known striker is joining us today on a 2 and a half year deal. Looks like we're splashing the cash. What's even more interesting, is that the last FOUR times he's played against Blackburn, he's scored.
None of the above is true, but the Blackburn fans reading b&a won't know that, because they'll have dashed off to the toilet before they s**t themselves.

Have a safe journey up tomorrow folks. Believe me we're concerned whoever we play, but judging by the game at your place, you will be tough.
Looking at the pubs thread, you seem to have that covered although I didn't see the Golden Cup mentioned. It's about 5 min walk from the ground and welcoming to away fans. Probably best to avoid Mill Hill with colours on though.
Was amused to see a mention of us needing sugar daddy....well we were doing ok before we had one. All but six years in the top two divisions, out of 143 years. That said we desrve to be where we are, but not our naturally level.
I rememeber a few 80s clashes with you (with Shrewsbury's finest export Terry Genoe in goal - great keeper). The most heartbreaking one being the 2-2 draw at Ewood at the end of the 87/88 season. Right in the middle of our yearly failure at the last hurdle to make it into the top flight!

My prediction for tomorrow is that Blackburn will win and our unbeaten will sadly end.
The Jinx is applied and I've even put money on them to win which will real p!ss on their Harry Ramsden chips.
Coyb. Destiny waiting

Can't help but feel a bit concerned myself now. Disappointing to see Blackburn strengthening whereas we have bought 2 defenders despite already having one of the strongest defences in the division.
It should have been glaringly obvious after Sunday that we need a spark up front. Will be gutted if the lack of urgency in the transfer market sinks us tomorrow.

I think we'll win this 1-2
They've bought in what looks like two good buys but they've got to bed in yet and we're well drilled and established as a unit.
However, I do think they'll score early on, giving them a bit of false hope, but by 60 minutes it'll be clear who the better side is and Nolan will sneak through and bury one to equalise
They'll need to go for it from that point and I think Mowbray will become a little desperate and leave them open to a sucker punch in the last 5-10 minutes. Step forward Stefan Payne.

Thanks. A bit of daftness on my part. I love a bit of banter.

Just noticed that the Blackburn HT/Shrewsbury FT result is a HUGE 66/1 with Corals and Ladbrokes. I'm having some of that!
Don't they know we do our best work in the 2nd half?

I wouldn’t say I’m concerned, but more respectful of what you are doing this season so it’s a big game and it won’t be easy. We have a few injuries in midfield which might catch us out but if we keep playing like we have been then I don’t see why we can’t win. Happy with the signing of Armstrong, don’t know if he’ll start though. Good luck, may the best team win!

Good to know they are ok with away fans. Cheers.

We've played most of the season without a recognised left back, being forced into playing a centre half there. Do you know what, he's very good at it!

Hurst will have a big decision to make today - Beccles or Lowe.
Forecast chilly but dry for today’s game
After the dross of Mr Mellons last season it is unbelievable that we are halfway through the season and going to Blackburn with a chance of extending our lead in the automatic position to eight points. At the same time we go to the Olympic stadium a few days later for a cup replay against West Ham........oh and two games away from Wembley in the Checka.
Let’s get behind the lads today

A win for Town today whilst not definitive for how the season will end, it would be a huge wake up call to all the other promotion contenders

Hope he starts with Lowe. Don't think he will though. I've got the Fulham away game many years ago on my mind. Town were 1 up through Carlton Leonard (of all people) but went on to loose 2-1 with Gordon Davies scoring both? This game has a similar vibe to it.... So come on. How many are "pay on the day"fans to boost the support!!

We've got the best keeper, we've got the best defence, we've got the best midfield and they shade us in attack.
Should be a high scoring game.

They were concerned, now they're irritated. Little Shrewsbury are really getting under their skin tonight. As well as sneering at our away support, "only 600" going to their place, (which is well out), and it's none of their business anyway, they seem rather excited that our players will be shagged out for Saturday after most of them didn't play this evening. (I expect Dean Henderson will need oxygen to recover).
No doubt their manager, Mike Bassett, will exploit this. LOL.

Should be a high scoring game. Triple LOL. Your keeper is like a petulant child with anger issues. Your defence was Sunday League at best (Beckles FFS!), your midfield didn't turn up and your striker was just a big lump who kept running into things. It was nice for you to see some goals though. As you were, mouth.

It was all about the performance on the day. Blackburn fans can say what they like about Town but the fact is so far this season Town have aćcumalated more points.

Unfortunately they don't hand out the trophies in January. If you're still above us in May and you go up I'll be back to congratulate you. But not the big nosed moron, he can kiss my sweet hairy cheeks

Just spotted another couple of little gems on their message board..
Parsonblue says 'we did need a firmer referee who would have stamped out the time wasting and the niggling fouls that Northampton were so good at'
Rover_Shaun World Cup says 'the fact that we are pitted against such historical rubbing rag clubs as Northampton and Rochdale is bloody embarrassing'
Does their arrogance know no bounds?I can sort of understand their annoyance at us challenging their 'entitlement' to play at a higher level on a small fraction of their budget but what have poor old Northampton and Rochdale done to deserve this abuse? No doubt the Cobblers and the Dalies will be suitably impressed when they see these comments from the intelligentsia of Blackburn!
