Can't see Beckles going straight in. However, as PH said, he's not given him a three-year deal to sit on the bench for three years.
As for Jules, from what I've seen, and as PH has alluded to, he's not ready for regular first-team football yet. Definitely got all the attributes, but still has a lot to learn.

They seem to be confident which is fair enough, one guy on the Oxford Mail Facebook page said 'they must, must, must beat teams like Shrewsbury', now how often have we heard that before? Is this the same Oxford Utd that spent god knows how long languishing in the conference pub league. If Robert Maxwell had had his way they would now be going under the name of Thames Valley Royals FC. Thank goodness common sense prevailed!

I think we're going to surprise a lot of people today, including ourselves. Our record under Hurst is superb, given what he started with, and this team is going to keep on improving the more they get to know each other's strengths and weaknesses. I don't think they're anything special, lost against Scunny, conceded 4 against Cheltenham in the EFL Cup.
Oxford 0 Town 4 and history.

Take a point today. Godfrey and ogogo to deal with Jack payne.
First real test also for Bolton today against some decent wingers.

Oxford are a good team but we have been transformed ,after performing so well it would be unfair to change the starting line up ,saying that Payne is clearly a favorite of Hurst i am sure some of the new players will be on the bench. i am hoping for a win but i would not be disappointed with a draw what a difference a year makes as last year i would be hoping for a draw on our travels .hope the traveling fans have a good journey and a good game.

Sitting this one out at home (not one of my favourite away days Oxford) so listening on the radio.Town have the chance to go top today so what are the numpties at radio sloppy doing?Yes you guessed it ,subjecting us to endless bilge about the pub team down the road again.I'm bored rigid. One small consolation, however, the insufferable Bond is at the ๐ฆ shed so at least won't have to listen to him talking billocks once the game starts.

Well we're five minutes in and I think we can safely say that Oxford have something about them. More than anyone else we've met at this level so far anyhow.

Going to be a tough one to win by sound of commentary We're more than a match for them though. I'd say we were just shading it at the moment, the better side.

I'm listening to the Town match on the internet , no mention of Tinpot. Anyway, we appear to be going ok, Whalley had a clear chance but tried for a penalty apparently which has completely bemused the commentary team

Sounds like town largely on top listening to Radio Shrops Town largely controlling the game. Comfortably the better side. Not sure what happened with Whalley and the penalty issue but he was clean through and surely would have tried to stay on his feet if he could. Ref, like us, was some way away so difficult to know what happened. Good half from town though - more of the same and this is a winnable game.

We've got yourselves into some great positions, final ball letting us down big time.
Other end of the ground but it looked a pen and red card all day long. Oxford fans didn't even react so that tells you they were worried!

Ox fans seem unanimous that it was a cert penalty.

Decent entertainment for a nil nil. My first thoughts were that it was a penalty but he may have gone down a little too easily. The angle was going against him and so I think he was looking for it a tad. Seen em given though. Another chance with a header (can't recall who) but headed it against an Oxford players head when it looked easier to score. Crossing needs to be improve, that's let us down I'd say but other than that we're playing well.

Oxford finding it difficult to get out of their own half at the moment. Do like the way we press and defend high up the pitch.

Well I think we can take it as a compliment that we were so dominate we've forced them to make a couple of changes so early in the second half but unfortunately they do looked to have improved having made the two substitutions. Bit more even these last five minutes. Just seen us hit the underside of the bar and have it bounce out. Schade schade...
