So another week passes by and there's another game to be played! Tomorrow sees us head down to Oxford United for the fourth match of the season - but can we make it an August League One clean sweep?
The man in the middle has been confirmed as Nick Kinseley:
We only encountered Kinseley once last season, and that was in our 3-2 loss to Walsall. He issued four yellows to Salop and one to Walsall - as well as a red card for both teams. Look out Toto!
As for Oxford themselves, they sit just behind us having won their first two games 3-0 and 2-0 against Portsmouth and Oldham respectively. And suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat last week.
It's going to be a tough game, but I'm confident we're going to be entering the STFC record books this weekend with our fourth straight win at the beginning of the season. Thoughts?
For those that are going, enjoy the view of the car park. ;-)

How do, rylehu, you might want to amend Oxford's opponents for the current season. Otherwise you might be due a red card!

A change on the bench perhaps; I would be surprised to see a change in the shape or make-up of a winning team unless caused by injuries.
And especially away, I would see 4-5-1 as being Hurst's favoured formation. But if we were behind with half an hour to go, we will certainly have the subs to turn to 4-4-2.
But whatever the XI on the pitch at any moment, we know they will be fit, confident and full of fire. So come on Town, first to those tackles, press high, keep tight at the back... then ping those passes around... and Shaun and Alex, run those full backs ragged again!
I know it's the hardest test so far... but it's hard for Oxford too.

Only possible change in first xi I would think would be Dodds or C.Morris but I would imagine it will stay the same .
Could be a few changes on the bench though with new additions. Maybe Ennis/Adams/Jules might not be in squad
This will be more of a test than previous games I reckon. I'd take a well fought draw

Well Oxford fans are certainly confident. We've beaten crap teams to date and they'll be a step too far for us. It's not an opinion I can necessarily disagree with (I think it'll be the toughest yet) but it's an attitude that gets right on my t*ts.
Let's beat them Salop.

Hes played well for us so far ,holds the ball up well and works extremely hard. A good player who deserves his place no doubt. Dodds hasn't got up to speed yet although he is a good player . PH may decide to replace him , Ennis possibly . We shall see ,it'll be hard against a good Oxford team , a draw would be a good result in my view .

Comment on the Oxford Utd forum: Just seen that Carlton Morris plays for them, i.e. one of the worst professional footballers I've ever seen. So he'll get the goal for them.
We'll all be more than happy if Carlton bags the winner!!!

4-5-1 tomorrow with C Morris as lone striker. Dodds to start with Godfrey a 2nd half sub to protect s 1 : 0 lead. Payne on for Morris and scores late on. Final score 2 : 0 to Town. Well, we can dream - and PH is making dreams come true at the moment. Let's enjoy it.

Is anyone going on the train tomorrow as the walk is 4 miles to the ground. Is the bus or taxi the best bet?

Don't worry the Oxford manager has revised his expectations. My source,Gobby, down there tells me they now only expect to beat us 7-0 because two of their key players will be missing.Apparently both Messi and Ronaldo will be missing because they consider it beneath them to turn out against the likes of Shrewsbury!

Henderson
Bolton Sads Toto Brown
Rodman Ogogo Nolan Whalley
Dodds
Morris
Dodds will no doubt be dropping back to make a five man midfield at times. Refreshing to be able to all but know the team that's going to play, and have confidence in them! Come on town!

Just realised that we will have more points if we win today, than we did after Hurst's first game with us. 16 games - 11 points.
4 wins - 12 points? Yeah, I think so!

Henderson Bolton Nsiala Beckles Brown Rodman Ogogo Godfrey whalley Nolan Payne 1-0 town - Payne With Toto having given away 2 penalties last week, it could be Beckles starting instead of him. Don't think Sadler has done too much wrong to deserve to be dropped. Interesting call re Godfrey. Dodds had a poor game last week and Adams didn't impress when coming on as a sub. So maybe Godfrey is the way to go. Nolan looked comfortable playing Dodd's role. It would be harsh to drop Morris in favour of Payne as he's been very effective as the lone striker. But equally, Payne looked sharp when he came on as sub. Difficult call, and one that I don't envy PH having to make. My team:- Henderson Bolton, Beckles, Sadler, Brown Whalley, Ogogo, Godfrey, Rodman Nolan Payne

Nsiala giving away 2 pens and he got no grief on here - that says something - a good presence and I don't think can be dropped. Sadler played well last time out but I think he'll be on the bench now as cover for centre back and left back, if not for oxford then it will be sooner rather than later.
Agree it's tough on Morris and I'd rather see a front two - how frightening would Payne and Morris be - I'd like to see more of Ennis too, but I think the 451 is what Hurst will stick with.

Wouldn't expect many changes. Hurst will want to be sure the new lads' fitness levels are where he wants before he starts them.
Sadler's not quite been at last season's level from what I've seen but there's no reason for changing the back four now. I'd stick with last week's starting 11.
Amazes me how fans (including ours) are so dismissive of clubs that lose their first games. They instantly become "poor teams" but how often is the bottom four in Aug/Sept the same as in May? Remind me, who have mighty Oxford beaten? Oh yeah, Oldham. Bit silly for them to be getting all billy big club just yet.

Sadler must keep his place, as he is the talker/organiser in the back four.0

Beckles can play comfortably left or right. I don't think he will be replacing Toto or Sadler but I can see Hurst going with a 352 today so Beckles or Jules may start.
I think we will come back with at least a point.
