Perhaps we need to widen the pitch?
If I was manager, I'd narrow the goalposts.

No I would higher them then that would be the end of just over the bar.

he really does need to shape up,my granddaughter could of saved that, and I've said that more than once this season.really poor on coming for crosses, considering his height.I think the clout he got against Grimsby has affected him a lot.on saying that he will probably be our hero for the next four games!!

In the interests of fairness, hope to see owd Foxie acknowledging our debt to Leutwiler for a superb double save just before the break. Part of a superb all-round performance.

And I hope a lot of us (me included) are doing similar for Grimmer after slating him today. I thought Riley's first half against Northampton was as bad a full back display as I could recall. I think Grimmer surpassed it today. I still like him but he needs some big performances now for me to want him signed up.

Leutwiler played well today but I think it showed a couple of times that the defence don't trust him fully, at least twice today there was a simple ball back to him but the defender chose to put it out for a throw in.

Disagree - safety first defending. It's not about confidence in your keeper, it's more avoiding putting other players under pressure needlessly.

In my opinion I thought that leutwiler had a good game yesterday and he kept us in the game when we were 1 down.

Well done all you Moaning Minnies, you've got your way. Unlikely that JL will play this season as he's not got a squad number. So now we're left with a Red Manc spotty youth with 5 minutes experience and a drop out from Walsall. I hope you're all proud of yourselves. Oh, why not start on all the strikers every time they make the mistake of being offside or miss an own goal. Why not look up the word 'loyalty' - it comes right after Leutweiler in the dictionary. Morons!!

Morons!! I assume you have sent the same message to Paul Hurst via the club? Of course not, even though it is the manager who makes the recruitment decisions, not this board. Ironic too that at the same time you have already written off our 2 new goalies before the season has even started, hypocrite!

My concern is that we have one goalkeeper who will probably be here for one season only, and another, who will mainly be the reserve, and who has more detractors among the Walsall fans than Loots has here. So in 12 months time, we will be looking for another number one keeper.
I know opinions are split on JL and keeping errors are easy to seize on, but I believe his points gained/loss account was very much in the credit, as was his loyalty, love for the club and willingness to get hurt in the cause.
I hope his replacements can claim the same.

Maybe the new keeper regime saves money on wages? Maybe with an improved defence we won't need to rely on the goalkeeper to keep us in the game? With Callum Burton not coming on as well as he should have we seem to have a lot of upheaval in the goalkeeping department, hope it all works out.

Personally think that Jayson is a very good League 1 keeper suffering a slight confidence problem following his bad injury but we have to trust Hursts judgement. He is not keen on keeping many of MMs squad and understandably wants his own team. From what weve seen to date of the two new keepers I don't think we can complain. In fact all the new signings have shown promise and given us belief for the new season. Its just two of the old MM squad who need to up their game to ensure a starting place for the opening league game. Dodds and Whalley are matchwinners on their day but disappointing so far in pre season.

Because I've just searched the whole thing and it isn't there I am pretty sure the squad numbers listed in the programme will be the final ones because the shirts are already printed. It is much easier to post a photo in Facebook but Henderson is 1 and Leutwiler wasn't listed, nor were Burton, McGivern or AJLS

Welcome to b&a owd lad.
I find it strange that you tell posters off for abusing a keeper, then you abuse TWO.

like JL. Think he's a decent shot stopper, in fact probably one of the best we have seen BUT he doesn't control his area and leaves his centre backs to defend under their crossbar. Can fully understand why a replacement has come in and im guessing the lad from Walsall is on considerably less that Luts would be when they will more than likely spend most of the season on the bench.
First impressions, lad from UTD looks good, confident and comes for crosses..... def here as a starter

He failed to collect what should have been his ball, putting Sadler under pressure and leaving the goal empty for a tap-in. Oh dear... if Jayson had done that, what a furore from some quarters there would have been.

I have been impressed with the lad's performances so far, but for me the through ball leading to the Cardiff goal should definitely have been "keeper's ball".

To gwyneddblue - I didn't just hide behind a message to PH but spoke to him after the Cardiff game to forward my point. I reminded him that at the end of last season he had said JL needed competition which I agreed with to a certain extend. However, he can't get competition when he's not even selected in the squad. This seemed to fall on deaf ears with PH, who has lost my respect.
To gainsparkshrew - the squad numbers on the website are for 16/17. JL doesn't have a squad number, as seen from the THREE programmes so far this pre-season. So that's how I know.
To all those highlighting my first post, yes it was, but as a local supporter for over 20 years I have never been annoyed enough at the shoddy treatment of a player to comment. PH seems to be one of those managers who wants 'his players'. However, getting in 1 unproven GK, another with a poor history and then dumping your loyal one without giving JL a chance to compete for the No1 shirt is blinkered and cowardly.
I wonder how long it will be before the MMs will be back.

I agree, Little Hursts treatment of a couple of players is somewhat bizarre It could be more to do with wages than ability. What I am concerned about, is what happens when Henderson eventually returns to ManUre.

I understand Paul Hurst told Jayson Leutwiler at the end of last season he would not be his future No1 keeper, he was looking to bring 2 in and if he wanted to continue his International career with Canada he would need to find first team football elsewhere.
I think that is a Manager being honest in his opinions with the player who still has a year on his contract and gives him plenty of time to find a new club. I do not think Paul Hurst can be criticised in the way he has handled the situation.
I know for a good number of supporters he is a big favourite who rate him, so it is disappointing for them but he will not be the first or last to be told he has no future at the club. I felt the same way with Marc Pugh.
I would not be surprised if he leaves these shores, and whilst he has not been my preferred choice of GK at Shrewsbury I do hope he is able to find first team football with another club at a decent level.
