Any suggestions? Who would everyone like to see replace Mellon if he's off?

Holloway for me. There would be plenty of goals and entertainment, 4-3. Might be a common result each week

At League 1, we aren't a particularly attractive proposition.
Appointing Holloway would mean about 10% of turnover going on manager wages

Don't think having two managers who take turns picking the side is a good idea.

Personally I would love to see Danny Cowley (Braintree manager) given a crack at league football, I'd take a punt on him.

Not fussed about chucking names into the mix as I don't see movement in this area.
If this scenario did unfold however, I would be fairly confident that the new guy would be a solid pick. One thing our chairman can do is spot a decent manager.

Depends on which candidates are prepared to take on MJ as their assistant. Won't even make the short list otherwise.

Hopefully if MM went somewhere like Blackpool he would take MJ with him leaving the way open for a new manager to bring his own assistant in which would make it a more attractive position. We do need a Div 1 ready manager but cant really see anyone available who would be better than MM. I think we missed a trick a few years ago in not getting Nigel Clough. Perhaps Nigel Pearson would like to slum it for a couple of years if he doesn't get the Villa job.

Ratcliffe was at the club for three and half years. Most remember the disastrous run that led to relegation but there was also the 'Great Escape' and he also us top of the league for a spell in 2001. We also played some great football during his tenure.
Simpson was on paper a great appointment. Indeed he was quite a coup at the time. I touched on most of this on Taffy's Simpson thread earlier.

How about Steve Cotterill? Has a decent record at this level and I believe is currently available (though would prefer Mellon to stay).

Some one who gets told what to do by the Chairman who won't rock the boat and ask for lots of money for league one players

According to his column in The Football League Paper, he was sacked for disagreeing with the Chairman and telling him what he needed for Peterborough to become a promotion winning team.

My wish would be for Mellon to stay and get rid of Jackson.I think an experienced coach/assistant working alongside MM would be a good thing.Jackson has been with us too long and had enough chances.Considering he was a centre back and watching our defence this season I often wonder what he does with the squad between match days.

Ian Holloway was on about 750k at Blackpool in the premier.
On around 250-300k at Millwall plus bonuses.

What we really need is for MM to make a decision at the earliest opportunity . If he stays , fine . If , for whatever reason , he is leaving , we need to appoint quickly otherwise we will be stuck in the close season merry go round . Last season we farted around not knowing who was staying , who was going player wise and, I think , missed out on signing decent players . We can't afford to miss the boat this time around .

Goldson, Woods- and Lewis and Ginelly were courted by bigger clubs so you can't dictate timescales with them. It will be different this summer so we should be able to get our business done earlier

I've always liked Sean O'Driscoll for what he has achieved in the game and was hoping his name would be in the frame after MJ's short spell but after his little disaster at Walsall, and apparently he came across like a prat at the Bescot, I'm not so sure now.

Not to well thought of at Bristol City either.

As ever the defining factor will be money and how much RW is prepared to put up , but we do need to be more proactive inthe transfer market IMO this time around . Lets see if we can do better . If we don't I can see another hard season ahead.

In my opinion he would be a great appointment , my only concern would be the health issues with his knees if we were to reach Wembley.

Would LOVE to have him here, but, as stated above we are simply not an attractive L1 proposition. Think we can rule out anyone in employment at present so will be some available and cheap....someone like Graham Alexander.
