Doh! Still, any Tom Dick or Harry has our new badge sitting in their clip art images already

The copyright of the design remains with the owner - the club could easily buy the rights to use it. Just because it's in the public domain doesn't mean it's not copyright.

And anyone can take the clipart lion, make it amber and sell it off as stfc merchandise in the same way they could with the loggerheads. Preventing such things was the main point in the statement i think.

Preventing such things was the main point in the statement i think. That's certainly the one thing I've been thinking about. I've done it a couple of different ways through the original clip art, came up with something as good as identical - which obviously then can be tweaked slightly to make it different enough. It's not hard to do. Though I'm not putting those on here, was just a play I did at home last night. And I'm in no way a photoshop expert, I only know enough get by - imagine what someone who knew it well could do...

It's big business Ian. Surely you've seen the street sellers on the approach to the Meadow trying to peddle their fake STFC merchandise?

Just as Blue and Amber is part of our unique identity, so is the Loggerheads. You need to do a little bit of research, fella. No, you need to improve your comprehension skills (fella.) Over 40 years of watching football I had, believe it or not noticed Mansfield's colours. However, if you re-read my post you might see that B&A and the Loggers are part of our unique identity. I didn't feel I needed to add "along with...". But clearly, for the hard of thinking, I should have. Do try to keep up. Fella.

I don't think most of us are taking it too seriously though Ian. The pitch side of things is immeasurably more important than this issue imo.

the new logo is crap -
a) like others have said, very millwall and chelsea. b) a single lion has very little to do with shrewsbury town football club. c) having 'shrewsbury town' and 'stfc' on the outside is ridiculous. so we're called 'shrewsbury town shrewsbury town football club' are we?? like a stuck record... d) this point about the clip-art is also very concerning.
all in all i'm pretty p**sed off right now, but like most people i'll no doubt come round eventually...

Don't Mansfield have a big sign up calling them the "Blue and yellows"?

Mansfield is an ugly town with a half-finished football ground.
They also play in blue and YELLOW. Wishful thinking from Mr. Visitor, me thinks...

Don't listen to the mansfied scabs, they're yellow and they know they are. Unless all their fans are stupid/colourblind/both when they sing "yellows yellows yellows", of course.

That is implying both aspects are uniquely yours. Maybe you ought to improve your writing style so you can get your point(s) across better. I wasn't the first person to pick up on your initial comment, merely the first to correct you. Well, I'm sure you'll be able to tell me how the good folk of Mansfield rose up in arms... You haven't corrected me, you made an arse of yourself because you didn't read the (pretty simple) sentence properly. Now you're making a bigger arse because you don't have the wit or grace to see your error and you're compounding it by insisting on the same (now wilful) misinterpretation. Which bit of 'part' is too hard for you? Let's try slowing it down: Shrewsbury Town have a unique identity. (You can agree with that or not, but it's a view generally held by the followers of most clubs that their club has a unique identity - for various reasons.) STFC's unique identity is comprised of different elements. (Again, as with most clubs.) Probably none of those elements are unique to Shrewsbury - many other clubs have blue shorts, kick footballs, have fans siging similar chants, have played in old, urine-scented stadia in front of small, grumpy crowds and so on; it is the combination of those elements that distinguish the individual identity. Part of that identity is the club colours. (Uncontroversial I'd have thought.) If you have trouble reading and writing, get help, there's no shame in it, but don't bother me any more, I can't be arsed to pursue such an irrelevance.

Interesting that rather than accept the point I made was correct, you'd rather act like children. We play in amber and blue, along with yourselves. And while the final stand hasn't been finished, we've not had to move grounds (indeed we have the oldest pitch in the league, fact finders) And we've never been relegated from the Football league.
