always wanted to start one of these
they started off hurting us with some VERY good cross's untill about 30-35 mins then i think we started to improve second half we played much better and i think overall we deserved the win.
we started to improve when ainsworth started to get into the game a bit more. also i think wright carried on with his good form.
MOTM= grandison/ macca

Swindon were the best team in the first half, and a well worked goal.
We dominated the second half, they couldn't deal with Morgan, Wright and Ainsworth. Morgan MOTM and my signing of the close season - the lad is absolute class. Di Caneo used up all his bullets early with substitutions who made very little impact on the game.
Hope Jacobson is not too badly injured. Very important player for us.

You are right their deep crossing first half caused us all sorts of problems.
Swindon totally disintergrated once Di Canio started bringing on subs, none of whom had any impact. I was delighted to see their big lad up front go off. His replacement, the huge Italian, one awful dive, one blatant elbow, about 6 fouls and a yellow card that could have been more.
Disappointed in Jacobsen today.

Classic game of two halves!! They caused us no end of problems first half, Jacobsen & Grandison were poor, and we couldn't keep the ball. Second half we got the ball down better and got the wide players into the game more, could have scored within 30s of the restart. Once we equalised and they changed the team, there was only ever going to be one winner MOM Morgan, Gornell worked his socks off, Wroe & McAllister looked class 2nd half. Good win, hopefully carry on at Gillingham next week

Certainly was a game of two halves. Swindon shaded the first half, just, as we seemed to leave our recent form in the changing rooms. Second half we came out and played at a greater tempo and got our wide men into the game. Lionel suddenly woke up and provided two assists, one for the second goal was pure class. Having wrong footed his full back, he cut out to the goal line and stood a superb cross to the back post. Morgan 2-1 (see yeah). Their centre back Flint was superb and gave both Morgan and Gornell a hard game. Wrighty surprises me, he has suddenly learnt to tackle and did some great work covering back. Over the season i think we could look back and say these were a good 3 points from a game we could have lost. Swindon must improve soon, and they will take points off quite a few teams . Happy days.

Game of two halves really. Swindon were better first half, and their deep crosses caused us all sorts of trouble. Good headed goal as well. Second half, we were the better side, we had some good attaacking play. Morgan causing all sorts of problems. We pushforward more and played more down the wings. Our midfield was great 2nd half. Gornell & Morgan all had good games as well their goals well and another 2 good assists by Ainsworth. 1st half we were fairly poor, but we improved 2nd half and played good. Hope Jacobsen is alright, nothing serious I hope. Roll on Walsall on Tuesday and more importanly Gillingham next Saturday.

Disappointed in Jacobsen today. Bit of a nightmare - but hopefully just a bad day at the office that he can put behind him pretty quickly - thought he was superb on Tuesday.

Morgan flying down the wing ultimately not being stopped by five of their players reminded me of Holty in all his glory.

All players improved in the second half, which is just aswell as the first half was blatantly not good enough. Second half Ainsworth, Wright and Morgan all got a lot more involved in the game, and Wroe and McAllister started to run the midfield after being anonymous first half.
That's 4 points salwaged from losing positions now this season already, hopefully we continue last season's excellence in that respect.
And two more assists for Ainsworth brings his tally to 8 already (of our 12 goals). Anyone advocating selling him must be crazy!

Agreed Jacobson had a bit of a nightmare. Also why the hell is he taking corners? In the second half we had about 4 corners in a row and his delivery for all of them was just woeful, didn't beat the first man on any I don't think.
I think the defence that started the season should play against Walsall anyway.

Deserved to be losing at HT, id love to know what Turner said in our dressing room and what Di Canio said in the other, because the second half couldnt have been different. Once we actually got the ball to Morgan, Gornell, Lionel and Wright, they couldnt handle it, if it had finished at 1.1 i dont think anyone could have many complaints, but at the same time the second half deserved the 2 goals.

First viewing this season. First half we seemed to lack energy, enthusiasm and sat far too deep on occasions allowing them play (how often have I said that over the years). In short very very ordinary. I thought Swindon were nothing special. Second half once we start to press on a bit it was totally different game.
After hearing about his poor start glad to see Sharps and SCS looking solid enough. Thought Jacobson had a bit of a mare of game littered with errors and then end up injured.
Will Di Canio make Xmas as manager (or even November)? I have my doubts.

Good to see us grind out a result. In the first half we were very poor, we didn't have an answer for them.
Much better 2nd half. Upped our tempo, got the first goal and we were then the better team till full time. A few scares but a good result!

Morgan alluded after the match that Turner had been quite straight with them at half time.

Stuart Dunn was critical of Jacobsen. Rightly so, was poor today. Just an off game. Agree that generally he was poor but the tackle he put in on the Swindon midfielder leading upto our second goal was top notch - just the sort of committed tackle we need our fall backs to make

Just a bad day at the office.

Morgan flying down the wing ultimately not being stopped by five of their players reminded me of Holty in all his glory. Indeed. The first half performance was very poor but that run by Morgan was outstanding, just seemed to kick start our recovery in the second half. By the way wasn't the italian De Vito on from the start and he was the one replaced?

A definite game of two halfs but surprised no one has mentioned the conditions. Both sides struggled to defend the swirling wind and for me that had an impact.
Overall delighted with the victory and it's been a good 8 days for STFC.

On Shrewsplayer they were on about the swirling wind and the effect that was having on the match hence the reason Swindon chose to change ends.
