Try music festivals if you want rip off food and drink prices. At v festival pint of carling was 4 pounds and chips 3 pounds
Think it's the way of the world now when you get a group of people together in a captive market prices go up - and not only is the price high but the choice and quality isn't too high. Best option is a packed lunch as it's cheaper and tastes nicer

It doesn't but moaning about it after you have purchased the item is all a bit pointless isn't it? What do you think is a fair price for the item? The pies at the GM are the best in the league imo but standard stuff like coke etc is a rip off. btw best food I have had in recent years was the burger at Derby - yum yum! Hoover - out of interest when you purchase your items from Sainsbury's do you get in to the ground without any bother? Lids off maybe? Why is it pointless. Am I not aloud to discuss my feelings about food prices at the meadow? Do you think £3 is good value for a pie? Do I really need to explain it to you? No wonder the NHS is going down the pan . . Why b!tch about it when you have paid it? Surely if you go somewhere and you think the price exceeds what you value it then you do not buy it? The pie is worth £3 - you obviously think the same as you paid £3 for it!

Chips - now there's an interesting item - what a financial own goal that is by not having them at the ground.
Anybody at Burton would have seen the quesues for chips etc, now if we average 5000 attendance /game over 23 league matches and 50% of that attendance/game were to purchase chips at £2/portion that would mean takings of £115,000/season - the wages of a new player and probably a decent 1 at that.
If Jennys are paying a rent to provide the catering as opposed to the club taking a percentage of Jennys takings that surely is another own goal.

You can ask the club about this one time and time and time again mate, and get the same responce, the safty certificate will not allow chips to be served (or anything fried). Quite why we get stitched up by such ristrictions, when most clubs do fine (even new grounds) I dont know... but I suspect its related to the awful planning of the size of concourses?

Last thing on this... Why do people keep saying that the football club is a captive market?
There is nothing that stops you walking in with sandwich, a drink (as long as its not a bottle - Ribenia/Tea in a thermos) and crisps or chocs? I wonder what % of people now take there own stuff, you see it more and more in the ground now... certinly in the familey stand...
its not a captive market, its an oppertunity for the football club

Chips was answered in the first questions to the club video, which I believe can still be viewed. They came up with three or four ridiculous excuses, including that they are too unhealthy!

I think Jenny's pay a set amount a year, as that was the agreement when they over from the supporters club.
When the supporters club did it they used to give the profits to the club. Forgotten the name of the chairman that got his sums wrong and changed it with out asking any 1.
The supporters club gave around 15k (this was when it was £1 for a pie and a hot drink) at Christmas at a dinner to the club, so that's all he thought they gave the club, so I think jenny's at the start gave 17k, but the chairman did take in to account the rest of the money at the end of the year the supporters club gave to the club.

Thanks Glyn - I ask the question because I know the same question was asked by an ex hospitality box user when he had a meeting with the new Rob Bickerton, , I mean Anton Gunther - he apparently/allegedly chose to skirt around the question and not answer it either.

Its a stupid argument to have a go at those that moan at the prices. Yes we can all eat before/after the game but thats not the point. I like to have a bovril at the match, its traditional, but the pricin is now such a rip off at £1.90 for something that I know costs 12p plus water, I now won't. Legitimate gripe Id say. Plus the chips debate. The 'unhealthy food answer is a complete red herring. They are not even offered in the Sovereign , or Executive boxes ever. So even the kitchend aren't allowed to cook them, orders from the chairman I understand. He has an aversion to them.

The lack of working TV's (or those kept switched off) will also have contributed to the drop in buffet sales, as people choose to watch the pre-match Sky game elsewhere.

but I suspect its related to the awful planning of the size of concourses? It is nothing at all to do with the size of the concourses or the buffets, it is everything to do with the totally unrealistic and in some case just plain stupid `safety` restrictions imposed at the opening of the stadium by the infamously anonomous Saftey Committee. We can't have chips in the most modern, safety concious venue in the county but I can go into an over crowded tent at The Flower Show and stuff my face with as many of the blasted things as is possible !!!...eerrmmm However having said that I still believe that the club have a large degree of culpability in this because they should now, after some years of demonstrating that the ground works and is safe, should be challenging the stringent decisions made during the safety licence being provided... they just lack the will to do so which quite frankly is insulting to the fanbase. If they lack the resolve to do it they should invite the various fan groups to campaign on their behalf. But they wont. It's not just the chips issue ( but that sums it up nicely ) but many other stupid, petty decsions introduced to appease SARA, nothing else.

Still, one rule for one and one for another. The blue and amber elite strike again. Elite? I have only ever met about a dozen blue and amber members and only 2 of those in the last 5 years. I am hardly part of any clique or elite that may or may not exist within blue and amber. It's fair to say that I occasionally loose my rag and get a bit annoyed with people, more especially those who seem to single me out for whatever reason but then chicken away from actually debating the issues they raise. Happened a couple of times now. Fingers has done it before, and I think some penis called swissshrew just randomly stalked my posts. It's bloody frustrating and unfortunately I tend to react when I should really just treat them with the contempt they deserve.

The blue and amber elite strike again. as I said, the 2 of them have sorted it out 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other handbags call it what you like whats the problem with that ? had it been 12 of 1 and none of the other and had the other moaned about it then yes a little bit of advice might have been the order of the day which was the case when it was SSS

Hang on, my initial post was in relation to complaining about something which you had control over but still pursued which i thought was fair enough. If i go into an establishment and dont read the huge boards with the price on it, then complain about it after I have bought it i think that's a bit silly. The subsequent posts were and I thought that was understood, no animosity my end at all. The NHS has nothing to do with this I was just pulling your leg, I have noticed how you get wound up by that line time and time again. I think most Nurses are quite touchy . Pilch - History? You sound like a gilted Ex
