Simple answer is eat and drink all you need before going into the ground - that goes for any ground as they are all stupidly high prices due to no competition.

What does the Town match day programme cost? Today's Brighton programme (Blackpool) was £3.00 for 84 pages! Their previous league game (Gillingham) was £2.00 for 36 pages. Not that I was there - ShrewsPlayer is my point of call on Saturdays.

Am I right in saying that the price of a pint has steadily increased as well? £3.30 I think now

Am I right in saying that the price of a pint has steadily increased as well? £3.30 I think now I know the bottles of Carling have gone up 30 pence over the close season pretty much a 10% increase that. Bit of a rip off really. I have noticed the queues for the buffet have looked well down during the last two games. Whether that is because the prices are putting people off or the new bottle bar is easing congestion I don't know but it definitely seems quieter there.

Being open for only 2 hours every fortnight, they have to milk it for all they can to be fair.

It's just here, its the same in a football ground or any venue you go to for that matter.
Fact is they know you can't go anywhere else.

Why, does that make a difference to the price they charge? Of coarse I know I had a choice to buy one or not, and yes I should have bought my food like usual before we went, but that is neither here nor there. I also see the point about having to make there money once a fortnight ect. To my mind though, and I'm no businessman, but is it better to have more people buying cheaper food or less people buying the more expensive food. Surely the sale of one item is likely to lead to the sale of a second item. If a person chooses not to buy food at all in the ground, they make nothing at all?

i've not even considered using the buffet this season after the price hike for the elton john concert
i hope they enjoy the extra 40p i paid that day instead of the regular £1.80 for a coffee or bovril etc at half time which i had nearly every game last season and probably would have had this season
biting the hand that feeds comes to mind

You expect to be a bit of a premium but there comes a point when you think the prices are too much and it is better to go without or bring you own food/drink instead.
Putting prices up 10% on the back of the EJ concert makes you think twice whether it is good value for money.

Question - Does the club get a percentage of the buffet takings or do they receive a rent type payment from Jennys leaving the income to the catering company?

How busy does the buffet get in the West and South stands? Always a steady flow in the family stand before the game and a big queue at half-time.

I have now decided on principle not to buy food this season, gonna get a pie or whatever from the Darwin.
The suits at the Meadow are doing their utmost to bite the hand that feeds. and a 10% increase in the price of food is disgusting and over the top.
Hope they noticed the vast gaps in the West Stand yesterday, we noticed most of the Sovereign seats empty.

Bottles of drink started at £1.50 i think, then went upto £1.70, now £1.90.
Although i payed £2.20 for a bottle of water at Oxford, water ffs, i wouldnt have bought it if i had seen the price, didnt even consider it being that much.

Noticeably quieter underneath the south stand regarding buffet queues yesterday - Always Sainsbury/MacDonalds for me and Ben, £1.90 for a bottle of coke at the ground or 2 for £1.08 at Sainsbury, no brainer!

How busy does the buffet get in the West and South stands? Always a steady flow in the family stand before the game and a big queue at half-time. West Stand has alway been very busy AT and was why there was lots of gripes about waiting, calls for a bottle bar and extra shelving along the walls. The last two matches though there has been noticeably less few punters down at the main buffet. As I said before the bottle bar may have eased things. Having said that the bottle bar did not seem that busy at all. Only Jenny's will know the whether their sales volumes for respective size of crowds to previous seasons has gone down or not but they are in serious danger of out pricing themselves to a lot of potential customers.

Did you look at the price before purchasing? Nope. Why, does that make a difference to the price they charge? It doesn't but moaning about it after you have purchased the item is all a bit pointless isn't it? What do you think is a fair price for the item? The pies at the GM are the best in the league imo but standard stuff like coke etc is a rip off. btw best food I have had in recent years was the burger at Derby - yum yum! Hoover - out of interest when you purchase your items from Sainsbury's do you get in to the ground without any bother? Lids off maybe?

No bother - I think the lids off thing has been relaxed now anyways but never had any bother bringing drink or food into the ground since day 1

Supply and demand my friends. Supply and demand. You don't like it then you sneak your own drinks/sandwiches in or go without. Simples

The west stand buffet used to be rammed but now you can get served fairly qucikly.
Not that you would want to.
Which might be the point.
But either I can buy a drink and feel I am being ripped off or I choose not to buy a drink because I feel I am being ripped off. Neither cements my loyalty.
We will se ehow the old "supply and demand" excuse plays out at home to Swansea and the time when the 5 year Sovereign club tie ins get renewed.
