Maybe the chairman thinks that sales of the retro shirts have knocked sales of the Town shirts. If this false its a nasty rumour. Sales of retros must have had a negative effect on the sale of home shirts. The home shirt is cack, badly made and not really blue and amber. The retro is everything a Shrewsbury Town fan wants, thick blue and amber stripes, long sleeved, and good for the winter! If the club had to learn the lesson the hard way then so be it, and it looks like we can now design a shirt the way we want it, not with a silly stripe of orange or a dodgy badge. Look around you the next time you go to an away game, I would suggest the official shirt / retro mix is about 50/50

Can anyone actually prove these rumours and say who said this? If not remove this thread. We are talking about two people who arent here to defend themselves.

"i've just spoke to ianwhit and he has confirmed shakey is not banned from the ground"
Mickey Brown's Shorts originally posted:
"a whisper i heard today is that RW wants Shakey out of the club."
I didn't understand that comment to mean he couldn't hand his cash over at the turnstile and he would be escorted out by the stewards.
;D

I'm sure RW wouldn't mind anyone paying at the turnstile - may be even Jake King?

Apparently JQ was approached to do something for the museum exhibition but declined - doesn't really prove anything one way or the other but apparently he was asked very nicely but didn't want to know.

I have had this mentioned to me. Is a bit of a concern if not only RW has a problem with Shakey but the manager has to the extent that he bad mouths him to some of last years players and staff. If this is correct then they both lose respect from me. Bully tactics are those of cowards and i really hope that my football club is not being run by this type.

If Shakey still retains a certain amount of influence over Luke,Tolley and the other younger players, you can see why Big Jim migt get tetchy about Shakey, as he is trying to stamp his authority upon the club and its staff and to a certain extent us, the fans. Therefore Shakeys prolonged involvement in certain aspects of STFC players lives may be making Big Jim feel threatend.

The manager?
The plot thickens!
although i'm a bit concerned this has become a free for all where anyone can mention any piece of gossip they have heard in the last six months
anyone posting stuff anonymously is out of order because if there is stuff to say let's hear it out in the open with names, times, places, and not just all these whispers that are causing discontent amongst the fans
I would like to hear what Shakey has to say about this and what the club's official stance is. Anything else is just unsettling hearsay and not doing anyone any good

I must admit I have heard rumours about him not being too popular with the board. Heard nothing abou him being banned though.
At least shakey is more in touch with the fans and organising events that we want to see, not some crappy soul band that nobody wants to go and see.
The club should follow his example.

I can't really say to much on this one as it wouldn't be fair on either party, or on the source. But lets just say there are bad feelings on both sides here and to blame the board without any real idea of the real issue is wrong. I don't think it was ever hidden that Shakey and Chic had a difference of opinion and have never been the best of buddies. It was alledged that it was shakey that got Chic the push from the job with the kids, hence his decision to leave the club in the summer with Chic coming back. Anyway does it really matter?
As for the replica shirts, why is this down to Shakey?Toffs have been selling them for ages, and I have always found them very professional and helpful! and you get exactly what you want with a proper stitched number!

Have to say this is not a nice thread ,lots of divisive whispers and gossip put up without either any evidence offered or those involved knowing and thus being able to defend themselves If there is subsatance do not be afraid to quote sources if there isnt it IS just goossip

regarding an earlier comment that the board are upset that they receive no proceeds from the sale of the retro shirts, well they wouldn't do anyway. I don't think individual clubs get any cut of sales from Toffs shirts.
The fans have paid a bit extra for Shakeys tops in order to make some money for a good cause. I doubt the same facility would have been available simply so that the club would've made a margin. I douby they would have thought of that. I doubt the new retro shirt would exist without Shakey helping out.
I've bought both the retro and the new home shirt. The retro is certainly my favourite of the two - a timeless jersey which I'll carry on wearing till it falls apart. It'll probably outlast 2 or 3 home kits over the coming years.

There is a long history of football clubs not being very happy about retro shirt companies. Rightly or wrongly they see it as other businesses making money out of them without the club recieving a penny. STFC is not unique in this.
Some clubs actually copyrighted all their old strip designs to ensure retro shirts could only be produced under licence.

I have noticed that lots of club shops sell TOFFS gear (i.e. Stoke) so the clubs must be making sommat from it? Town have just gotta get themselves sorted and get stuff like this released, I don't suppose there is anything stopping them releasing another replica retro shirt is there? Like I say, I'm desperate for the blue and amber 80s number with the blue v-neck...very close to the one we have now but it has short sleeves...which will come in very handy cos I want to be wearing it at Euro2004 next year!! You can't be wearing Shakeys number in the month of June!!

Would just like to say that the retro shirt idea was Shakey's. Thats the 80/81 shirt.
I understand a friend of his who also posts one here and somebody at the club who is known to most of us helped with an original shirt (players) and a very bad replica. TOFFS used these to make our retro. Shakey the risk, funded it and reaped the rewards.
I also understand that the club had been offered the opportunity on at least two occassions to do the retro and didn't want to know.
Why don't they stock it in the club shop?

Stutty,
I know at least at first Stoke's retro 1972 League Cup Final shirt was not TOFFS - not as chunky but decent quality and cheaper.

[glow=red,2,300]MickeyBrownsshorts is so obviously Shakey himself, I can not believe anyone has not suggested this yet, and I think there must be some truth in what he is saying otherwise ianwhit would have come on himself and denied it or given STFCs side of the story.[/glow]

So obviously not Shakey i'm afraid.
Two can obviously not use their real i.d's so people can keep guessing. Goes for you too then.
Truth in the matter, there is plenty of that in this matter been posted on here.
