Yes good luck Luke, some of the memories, most have been said before? Goal against Dale which sent us top Running an Everton defence ragged Being one of the few players who looked to be gutted when we were relegated The goal against York from a ridiculous angle The goal against Scunny in our final league game which everyone assumed was your last game for us and could be our last goal for a while. A touch of class Everyone who has a go should be ashamed,: He could have made big money in 2000 when he was out of contract but chose to stay with us. He could have kicked up a fuss everytime someone made a bid and we rejected it but chose to stay with us He could have demanded a transfer when we got relegated but chose to stay with us And just look at all the messages from fans of league 2 clubs who are slagging you off, take that as a compliment because average player don't warrant so much attention

Good Luck Luke, I hope you get fixed up Best Luke memory, not even a Football one. Just parked up at Burton last season and me and my son were looking for Food and a Pint. Up drives a Porsche nearly runs over my toes and out gets Luke and his boots. Quick Chat and he is off to get changed. The look on the two parking stewards faces was priceless.

thank you for the good times but not for the bad.
i am not happy to see him go because he was/is a quality player.. however he is nothing compared to when when he first burst onto the sceene.
luke owes shrewsbury big time for standing by him when he was in the wrong crowd and im just glad he managed to sort his head out after the firework incident amongst other jobbish behaviour.
lets hope he does push on and fulfill his potential.
good luck in the future.

The one thing Town fans have always valued is players that give 100% - and I have never seen Luke give less than the maximum effort when playin for the Town.
Even though he has not scored many in the last two years, I think you will find that has been countered by the number of goals that he made for others during the period.
Many may not agree with me, but he has particularly impressed me with his attitude in recent times, both off the pitch, always happy to take time to sign autographs and have his photo taken, and on the pitch where he has tried his best to put up with the stick that he gets from both the opposition players and fans alike.
I was lucky enough to be at Darlington when he scored a cracking free kick for the National Game XI and apart from his family must have been one of the proudest people in the stadium that night.
Good luck Luke and thanks for all the memories.

And to add to that remember when he stood by the club too. If there was one player who could have moped around and thought 'I'm too good for this club' in the Conference last year it was him - and yet he always, always gave 100%.

Thanks Luke for all the great memories.
On a personal note, a big thank you for spending some time with my son Tom, chatting and having you photo taken with him after the game against Woking when he was mascot.
It's a great screensaver on the computer!!

Thanks Luke for all your years at the club.
Hopefully a change of scene will help you get back to scoring 20 goals a year, pushing your team new team to promotion.
Looking forward to see you play against Scunnie

Luke,
Thanks for your loyalty to Shrewsbury, you were a rare ray of sunlight during the relegation season - some of the goals you scored were brilliant.
Just two pieces of advice - control your temper, this has been your only blot on your copy book, you have picked up too many cards, and secondly you need to get that instictive shooting instinst back, you seem to more reluctant to shoot or run direct at goal than you were - just don't take heed of this advice if you ever end up playing against us.
All the best for your future.

Luke Rodgers will go down as one of the best players this club has ever had. Largely playing in a poor team over the past five years he has out shone all around and proven himself a striker of real quality. My favourite Luke moment had to be the night we tore Crewe apart in the LDV two years ago. Truly sensational display with Luke at his very best. That display must of left a lasting mark on Dario Gradi's memory and may well effect Lukes footballing future even now two years down the line. Thanks Luke and good luck

Luke, you are an inspiration to my lad and since three years old he has worn your shirt and thought you were the best player ever. Never mind all these premiership players you are the tops. Whatever you do and whereever you go best of luck and I hope you have a great career. I will always remember with fondness all the goals you have scored and every blade of grass you have run over for town throughout the years. best of luck. Paul and James. ;D

thanks for your loyalty, thanks for running many a defender ragged, the size of the name never really mattered to you.
go realise your true potential, pick your club wisely, pick a coach who will develop you into the player you deserve to be (that means no wolves, walsall, chester etc!!)
all the very best

My favourite Luke Rodgers moment came a year ago away to Barnet. We were 1-0 down despite having had the majority of play. One more goal for Barnet could have killed us and ruined our chances of promotion that season and maybe ever? One handball decision later and we had a penalty. We were sat behind the goal in the pouring rain coming down on the open seating area. Luke stepped up and absolutely hammered it home. He went nuts running round the corner of the ground and for the first time that season, we could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even though we lost that game to a last minute goal, that penalty changed the tide of the tie in my view, and led us through the incredible events that were to follow in the return leg and the final. Always 100% effort. Cheers Luke

Luke has been a true salop legend, he stuck with us in the conference, but now its time to move on. He has a bright future ahead of him, i'm sure he will continue to run defences ragged for a long time to come. The hatrick in the 7-1 demolition of rochdale will always be an outstanding memory and a hatrick in a 7-1 demolition of sc***horpe would be the perfect good bye!
