Who in their right mind believed that 45 minute claim??? I certanly didn't maybe I am foolish, but like a lot of the terrorist alerts I honestly believe that if the threat of terrorism was a prominant as the media and government make out than we'd have experienced some series terrorist acts. As proved by al-Qaida if a terrorist group wants to blow up people and make a "point" quite easily with a bit of thought and planning. How easy would it be for a terrorist to buy seperate components to make a bomb, from seperate shops and over the internet, find some instructions on the internet, assemble it, attach it to themselves and attend a premiers**te matc, or go on the underground etc.. activerties that are open to all with no searches. I accept that the intelligence services try their best to keep us safe, however i also recognise that if a terrorist group wanted to cause us harm that they will. As such the issue of our civil liberties are now more important than ever. And this issue needs to be addressed properly before the election

Yes you are right Tories did take us to the 1st Gulf War, again though it was to kick out people who had invaded another Country. Did they have the right to take over Iraq then? I don't know. Yep, not our country, no threat to our country, kuwait is no great allie of ours, but yes, they had oil, and s**t loads of it. So the tories us to war for oil, they said it was to liberate an occupied nation. But after all, it was just about oil. Dont want to sound argumentative Martin , but the war issue is no reason for Labour opponents to bash them. Let he who is without sin and all that.

Well Ant im sure that that is your belief, that those certian individuals would never let you down, but i really have to disagree. Everyone has there price, whether its financial, emotional or just plain greed ...etc!
Im sure if you really think about it you could come up with a scenario whereby your trust in your closest friends and your trust in your immediate family could be broken, you may well be able to say that you can trust them 99.9% but you will never be able to say you trust somebody 100%, theres always something whereby they will put there own needs before yours and that is a fact of life.
I could easly list two scenarios whereby your closest friends and your immediate family would break that trust you have in them but would prefer you to think about it yourself for a while, you will soon come up with your own, its sad but its human nature at work.
This may well need its own thread ;D )

Call my more optimistic or just call me lucky for having these people in my life but there's no way these people would betray me, and I feel very very lucky to be in the position I am.

Anyone who has looked into the 'Ricin' scandal will be ashamed of our politicians and the fear they are trying to instill in us.

No Ant, you're not lucky. There are untold numbers of decent human being around, who would never dream of doing anyone down. You've just got an appreciation of this fact. Kickin. I can't begin to express my sympathy for you (if you want it or not). To have to go through life with that dreadful belief about your fellow man must be absolutely unbearable.

I'm an ex regular in HM forces and we knew what our job included serving in dangerous places if HM government so wished. I don't understand what political point is being made here unless it is don't join up if you don't want to be shot at
