An interesting idea but £12 seems very expensive when you consider there are 23 home league games in a season

I bought a match video of the semi final play vs. barnet last year, was ok, but a bit dull with no commentry.
I may be tempted if commentry was added and it was £6 - £8.

That sounds like truly excellent value and a brilliant service by the club.

I would buy them (the ones we win anyway) but not for £12. Half that price and I definitely would. Sounds like a great idea.

Being a bit of a rain geek as some of you know, its interesting comparing prices. An hour train DVD normal goes for £19.99 so £12.99 for a full match seems a steal to be honest.
I would say people will buy certain games like they did the videos of matches of old, but where I think there is a market is for a monthly highlights magazine. A number of clubs are doing these now. Its who can produce it, time etc I know.
11 years ago Resolution did a video every couple of months. Something like that we be swell, but at the minimum, a highlights of all the goals over a season. Which remidns me, has Sib still got any from last season?

everything is possible but the more work that goes into it means that it will cost more.
full match is available as we have the equipment and personel at every home game, so is bascially easy to produce.
highlights dvds take more editing and work, if commentayr is needed it would probably need to be over dubbed again with a soundtrack for the dvd.
the idea is to offer full match as well as a regular season update every x weeks.
but as i've said, if 50-100 people order the oxford game then the price will be really cheap..

Agree with Revap. Could only see myself bying certain memerable games, most people im guessing, regret spending the entrance money to see some of the games live this year, so aint gonna go out and by the dvd so they can be depressed and bored stupid at their liesure. A quarterly dvd magazine sounds good. player interviews, management interviews ( but would have to be exclusive, no point just watching GP say what we already read on the web or in the Star). Throw in a mix of match highlights (shouldnt take up too much time ;D ) and you have something sellable. (imo)

I will defo be interested in buying match DVD's once we get to the new stadium. At the Meadow the camera angle isn't the best and there is one or two obstructions that spoil the view of the game.
I gather at the New Meadow we'll have a decent TV gantry offering a decent and clear view of the match?

I think a review DVD brought out every 1/4 or 1/3 of a season would be a great idea I don't think there would be a huge demand for individual game DVDs.

Quite honestly the Video of the everton match is great but with no commentry it gets very dull in areas so as much as i would love to say yes, i will not,

I wouldn't buy full matches, but would definitely buy a dvd of highlights/all the goals from the season, with a bit of commentary, eg just 'at exborough united town away mr blobby scored his tenth goal fo the season with this cracking volley of his middle leg, but town still couldn't win against 2men, going down 30-1'

think season reviews would be best with goals scored and goals AGAINST
I hate it when we win 2-1 and u dont see the opposition scoring on some of resolutions videos - its about telling the story
£12 is a steal - they are not being mass produced and the market is VERY limited
ok u get kill bill in asda for a tenner but they are producing hundreds of thousands
... Id seriously put Meadow Memories on DVD but feel Id be out of pocket - there is simply not the market demand to make it worth while

i probably wouldn't watch one if it was free i'm not being funny i just wouldn't (i have a few live games taped from last season and have not viewed them again)
now a review of the season with all the goals and best highlights would be nice (end of season of course) i'd pay £20 for that

Whatever you do you need to include over dubbed commentary, its essential, you will sell 10 times more IMHO.

would you buy full match dvds = NO
If it was a round up of the season including extending highlights of more of the memorable matches then = Yes

It interesting to hear your comments lads it really is cos' i can feed it back to Steve and my dad!
The priority for the video team and club mainly is that Gary Peters and the away team have a copy asap after the game, selling the video's is a brucie bonus!!!
Whitters has hit the nail on the head regards the price cos' lets face the club dont and cant pay the many people who work there saturday's/tuesdays etc alot to justify putting in more hours i.e the match video's.
Steve Yates (SCV) already puts in alot of hours doing various filming for the club plus a regular day job. He simply doesn't have the time to do a regular highlights package if the demand isn't their, hence why Whitters is asking!!!
I'm told their will be a 'end of season' vid/dvd available because they generally (over past experience) sell ok, the demand for 3 or 4 highlights vid's a season hasn't really been their since the 93-94 champonship campaign.
If anybody has any direct questions or queries about match vid's, etc. feel free to mail me on:

I think the story of this season would be a great DVD. With clips from the Quinn era as an intro and Gary Peters reviewing the season in an interview (the interviewer would have to have amazing stamina) and then his overdubbed comments of particular match highlights. Inevitably Gary would want some odd clips in there that would demonstrate some esoteric point which he would see as having massive importance.
It would probably have to be a double DVD or a box set but it would be entertaining and informative.

I'd buy highlights CD's - one at Christmas, the other at the end of the season.
Not just goal highlights please. I like to see strong tackles, clever dribbles and incisive passes, even if they don't lead to goals and even if they're by the opposition. There's more to football than just goals.
