since i'm nursing a hangover... and its friday afternoon... i've just been looking at the shirt designs.
It looks like the Ajax shirt will win... so do we think we'll get a badge in the centre of the shirt?? MG sportswear logo on the sleeve?? IMO that'd look class!
any ideas on the new sponsor yet?

We may not get a visible MGS badge anywhere on this shirt. I had a brainwave a couple of days ago and asked Sib to get MGS to consider a central badge.
I went a little bit further than that - I asked whether a blue version of the retro shirt badge can be used - as it stands out really well in the centre of a light coloured background, e.g. see photos of the Wolves game of that era.
The retro badge is the only badge that we definitely know is a registered trademark of the club and its doffing a cap to the club's past which is only right at the end of the stay at the Gay Meadow. I have no idea if that badge can be replicated on to modern shirt material.

sounds good to me... no MGS logo and a resonably plain take on the shirt would look cool, almost retro. i know its been mentioned before but do we think we could buy a sponsorless shirt?? apologies if this has been discussed and dismissed before!

is that going to be put to a vote or anything?
or is is a decision by you and sib?
i personally wouldn't want to see anything other than the current club crest.

Nice old school shirt in a new fashion - and its got to have "gay Meadow xxxx - 2006" on it somewhere!!

Any news on a different manufacturer or are we stuck with the same cr@p? Same manufacturer. Hopefully, a better standard of crap next season though. As opposed to the caterers, who will be dishing out the same old rubbish until we get to the New Meadow.

;D
try again, that'll be the hangover!
i liked the shrew until once when waiting for a plane the guy in front of me turned around and asked "which team is it that has a mouse as a badge?"
i'd buy the shirt with either badge, both are good. the commemorative bit is a good idea too, perhaps with the text encircling the badge??
still keen to get a shirt without a sponsor on it though!

The White Wem Ales shirt with it on is pretty cool in my opinion As for the Gay Meadow idea, I'd suggest that we run those as special limited edition runs for the last 2/3 home games. Would that make better commercial sense?

"its in the hands of the club"
what was that refering to then?

The club will be arranging the manufacturing of a shirt based upon the design that wins the vote.

right. so why bother mentioning the badge at all then

Post by SeanBroseley on Feb 18, 2005 16:36:00 GMT 1
Why not then?

|
Post by faginy on Feb 18, 2005 16:38:50 GMT 1
not sure where you are coming from.
first you mention a change in badge.
which the club and manufacters will sort out.
then you say they will produce the shirt to the design voted.
then when asked why you mentioned the badge
you say why not?!

None of the designs have a badge on them.

Post by faginy on Feb 18, 2005 16:41:42 GMT 1
so who do you think should decide the badge?

Who should decide the design of the shorts or socks?
The fans should try to influence what happens. Most importantly when it comes to quality, in my view.
Talk to Sib tomorrow fagin and then she'll know your opinion. I'm not bothered either way. But it was worth the suggestion as it is our registered trademark and a design as distinctive as the blue and amber colour scheme and the Ajax design.

i was just under the impression that the badge would remain the same.
a bit of stitching saying
Gay Meadow 1906-2006 wouldnt go amiss either.
but i think the fans need consulting through the commerical group

This thread is like overhearing two mates talking themselves towards an argument in a pub. One of whom has drunk slightly too much.......
