Shrewsbury are in for Josh Vela. Former Bolton. Been at Hibs. Hearing it's on.

I know this isn't exactly the most reliable of sources but just searching Josh Vela on twitter and it is full of Hibs fans absolutely slating him and they can't believe a club is actually after him. They're even offering to drive him down to Shrews!

They're even offering to drive him down to Shrews! If he'd been signed earlier they could have just dropped him off and one of those Sunderland fans offering to give Donald Love a lift could have brought him ….. James Collins wasn't exactly a raging success at Hibernian either. Maybe it's them.

Weird position to be getting a player in if someone is not off i agree.

God some newspaper websites are dreadful - anyone would think they didn't need to attract readers. Gave up with that one.

Let's hope Vela rises to the massive step up from Hibs.

Wow, at least if SR thinks so.
Delicate question now is how close these new boys get to a game against Liverpool on Sunday?

Had a cracking League One campaign a couple of seasons back, struggled to get game time in the Championship then struggled to settle north of the border.
An interesting signing, hope he can recapture that 2016/2017 form, still reasonably young too.

Maybe a midfielder on the way out, Maybe not. Don't want to get caught with last day bids like we did with Toto, etc. though.

Edwards/Goss really struggle for consistency or any run of games, I would think Ricketts is after someone better than them two, or at least rival the ‘Edwards role’ seen as Goss has Walker (also not quite up to it) who plays in a similar way to him. In fact, I think Laurent has been s**te in some recent games and there was nobody to replace him on the bench.

Not a midfield player who will give us anything different, e.g. creativity, but more one who will be a like for like player to compete with players already in the squad. He'll probably be competing with the like of Norburn, Laurent and Goss for their places. It gives us more strength in depth but not really anything different in terms of style of play.

Like Donald love, hibs fans like sunderland fans saying worst player in last 10 years! Who knows. Weird position to be getting a player in if someone is not off i agree. We've had three midfielders leave this month (Thompson, McCormick & Fané) - four if you add Grant. Plus Giles, who was lately playing on the left of midfield, has gone back. That leaves Norburn, Laurent, Goss, Edwards & Walker. Don't think that overloads us. More to the point, I hope Vela might be a midfield creator for the strikers. We've been short in that department, regardless of numbers.

I don't know enough about him but his description reads more like a Docherty-type player and I don't think we've got one of those. Energy can create just as much as skill, especially at this level!

Wouldn't have been any questions asked about a signing in this position if GD had signed.

From what I've seen of him on TV a few times I'd say he's more of a harrying, hassling type of midfield player who will win the ball back or break up play, similar to Laurent and Norburn. He's looked more defensive minded than attack minded to me, but I'll be happy if I'm wrong and he does give us something a bit different.
