Anyone play it? Any tips of what to beware of? Any scams going on there? All advice gratefully received. Been playing on the 'for fun tables' and done ok, but obviously its easier against fellow beginners.

Walked into betfair poker with a 50 spot tonight on the £1 tables, walked out 3 hours later with an extra 25. Could have walked 2 hours earlier with another tenner on top, but where's the fun in that! All seems above board, no-one got grouchy with me, even when I was being a cocky git pulling pocket pairs every round for 5 rounds straight. Only the odd bod is talkative though. Have a go with some footy winnings next time you're on there, it's ok.

I agree, all seemed above board and friendly. Went on with £11, got to £66, back to £9, quit while I was ahead on £34. enjoyed myself though. You could never go on there drunk, mind.

By the way, was it seven card stud you guys play? seemed the most straightforward to me, and I enjoyed it more than i thought I would.

Texas Hold 'em, after half a bottle of Shiraz Cabernet.
Tore myself away when the alcohol wore off....
...Stayed sober tonight, and took 108 from my 50 stake money. Get in!

Could you just let me know roughly what's different in a tournament, and why you prefer them? Cheers Tournaments are either 2 seater, 5 seater or 10 seater table. Everyone puts a set amount to buy in to the tournament e.g. £5 which is then split into the prize fund. Everyone starts with the same number of chips, say 1000 and the winner is the last man standing i.e. the player who ends up with all the chips. On a 5-seater tourny usually 1st and 2nd place get paid and on a 10-seater it's usually the top 3 who get paid.

Ta. Seems reasonable. Also, less risk of me blowing vast amounts in quick succession. Got my original £11 to over the ton, then all the way back to £21. Swings and roundabouts. Had a straight, Ace high, went big on it, the other guy had a flush. How I laughed.
