I think Coventry's talented young left back signed for Norwich today so this makes sense. They did but loaned him back for the rest of the season.

Is it just me or would anyone else like to see him here on loan. He could being a fair bit of what we don't have to the club. Although I suspect we can't afford him be interesting to see where he ends up and how he gets on. As we are tight on loan numbers it's a no from me.

If Wolves recalled Giles from a season long loan to sit on the bench and then, when we are willing to have him back, send him elsewhere I’d think twice about ever taking a loanie off them ever again. Clearly to Wolves a season long loan is actually 6 months.

I guess the hope is that when it comes to the January transfer window if you get it right then good things can happen. It can really turn a season around. With only a few hours to go I'm really not getting that vibe at all. And when I think back to how knackered we looked on Wednesday I just do feel that we could do with the extra bodies. Still, hope springs eternal. Maybe we'll pull sommat out of the bag in the next couple of hours... ...so its back to listening out for ShrewsHub alerts now.

Really hope something is pulled out of the bag.
Otherwise a very underwhelming window. A RB, GK and a forward who hasn’t played much football.
It’s not like we’ve had all month to sort it. Not convinced we have yet strengthened where we really need to (attacking midfielder).

We've done okay in this window I think, but hopefully there is more to come by 11pm. The problem is we need to strengthen just to stand still as other clubs are doing good business in this window.

Very disappointing.

Looks like his agent screwed up his chances of playing in the Premiership! He was already under contract with Sheffield United until the end of this season. www.sheffieldunited.news/analysis/mark-duffy-left-sheffield-united-under-a-cloud-and-its-not-going-to-plan/“He came to see me on Thursday, I think it was, and talked about a new contract,” Wilder told the Sheffield Star. “I reminded him that he signed one 18 months back and got a rise to Premier League money. “He won’t dictate to me when he signs a new contract and neither will his agent. It’s as simple as that. “We told him that and he wanted to pursue different options".

So we now have three senior keepers and with the transfer window nearing conclusion it seems Murphy isn't going anywhere. I wonder if O'Leary being recalled to Bristol City might be a possibility again? Can't think of any other reason to sign another goalie...

Why didn't any Club take on Jack Payne? Clearly not wanted by Lincoln, and a very positive midfield player who has always played well against us.

The problem what be a last minute recall leaving us with Joe and a youngster as cover. Same problem with an injury or a suspension.

I’ve been the most voiciferous for seasons about this bloke on all social platforms. But he hasn’t played for Wolves Wrexham or Bolton so it’s a no go. Besides I’m sure SR doesn’t read this forum anyway. I agree he has been an ideal option for a while, yeah he has struggled elsewhere but he would have provided us with a decent attacking option. Very disappointed and frustrated full stop.

Hahaha. Ricketts: Listen here you vastly funded, overstocked local team, if you're not careful we'll not take any of your highly rated "loanies" ever again Wolves: Erm.....ok? Ricketts: I know it seems extreme, but our chief archivist has suggested it

If we had signed him I can picture the comments already "So we are signing someone who cant get in the Lincoln team, very underwhelming" "32 goals in 200 games, hardly something to get excited about".

You have missed nothing, apart from the usual "why didn't we sign this player or that player" as they are all no doubt sitting there waiting for the phone call from us. Along with the "why have we signed him I am seriously underwhelmed". Why don't people get their head around the many reasons why players don't sign for us without resorting to the usual excuses that involve some kind of hidden agenda or conspiracy theories. We can all pick a name out of the hat and start a rumour on B&A but it it doesn't mean it's going to happen, like some actually do!!

Time will tell with the new players, but pleased we retained players like Laurent. It would have been great to have Giles and Docherty in but we also have to consider January is a difficult time recruiting players in a very competitive market.
If we can maintain our league one status preferably in the higher half of the league and give a good show in the Anfield replay again, I feel we will have had a decent enough season which we can push on from with some decent summer acquisitions. I understand some fans are impatient for success, but firm foundations are important for progress. Planning budgets and being financially prudent is paramount to maintaining a well run club and a strategic and sensible investment plan in all aspects of the club will benefit us greatly in the long term future of the club.
I fear come clubs splashing the cash will be very vulnerable if they are unsuccessful getting promotion. Rotherham are certainly trying to give it a push with some reasonable signings like Tilt, but even they have not been as expansive in their investments as they have been in the past putting them close to financial trouble perhaps they have learned their lesson.
This season we have seen many clubs like Bury and Bolton in trouble Southend and Oldham and others can be added to that list.
Whilst we all want success we must also accept common sense must prevail with our finances, salaries and agents fees as well as transfer fees which can be onerous and we are very fortunate we have good stewards of our investments in Roland and Brian.

I guess we shall now have to factor into our plans that Laurent will leave for nothing at the end of the season.
We can but hope that he can be persuaded to sign a new contract, but any agent looking for a rake off from him going elsewhere is not likely to be falling over themselves to persuade him to put pen to paper.

I think we have enough in the squad to cement our mid table finish, which is what I hoped for this year.

If he carries on with the form in recent months then it would be utter madness for him to stay, particularly with championship clubs in for him. If his form dips then they might be scared of but still expect there would be plenty of L1 clubs in for him.
A big turnaround for him as personally at the start of the season I thought he was average and was wondering where he would fit in with all our midfielders
