I think we have had 6 from 18 games. Does anyone know the record for Salop Apologies if already discussed For a league season, we had 23 (50% of all games) in 2014/15, so currently in-line with that at 9 from 18. Albeit 50% this season with one less team in the league would result in a lower absolute number.

clean sheets are great if you have goals on the other end

Funny phrase is “clean sheets”. What’s it got to do with not conceding a goal? Anything to do with team sheet?

clean sheets are great if you have goals on the other end you could argue that clean sheets are more important than goals we scored 3 goals the other week and lost then again 46 nil nils will probably get you relegated I've always said a side needs to be built from the back , and sam has far exceeded expectations there the middle is getting better as the season goes but a few set backs have hindered the forward line, but I fully expect that to be attended to in January but finding such a player is so hard, and usually ends up done and dusted early or a last minute gamble

To put into perspective the level of clean sheets obtained so far.... this plot shows STFC finishing position vs. % of clean sheets through the season. Whenever Shrews have achieved at least 38% of clean sheets in a season they've been promoted. Of course this analysis doesn't take into account goals scored (an area we certainly need to improve in) but I think it does highlight SRs approach to building a solid back line.

Harsh again Pilch Essentially we have a top 5 defense. Still only the Hurst season we had a better defensive record in the league for keeping clean sheets. Absolutely tremendous. But that is only half the tale is it not. Sadly after scoring some blanks again recently we now have the LEAST prolific League one team we have had in recent years. Worse than last season. Worse than the season mellon got sacked. To me goal scoring is either an issue we solve and can push on to something better, or we stick as we are and be pragmatic and stay mid table. There is very very little chance a defense as good as this gets us anywhere near relegation trouble, and that is from last season progress Ricketts can point to, dull as it can be at times.

A safe mid table, hopefully top half finish with Ricketts learning plenty along the way and having another two transfer windows could lead to a successful play off push next year. Who could really argue with that?

No one.
This season is very open though, might be a slight tinge that we did not have the Hurst Season this season... would likely have walked it to the championship!
