The famous Shrewsbury Town to? I've been to Blyth, Histon, etc, have a couple of two Juan d feets at Grimsby on my CV, (I knew I was getting old, because the lovely lady in the turnstyle gate said , "are you a concession?". That was the highlight of the day by the way. Bloody Ricketts......as well as the famous no score on a freezing Monday night in the FA Cup when 75 hardy souls made their way north. Torquay on several occasions, Carlisle on a Toosday night is also in the memory block. I had three goes at watching Salop ply their trade at Rochdale in our promotion season. The fust time we got to Salop and Mike Thomas was waiting to turn us away as the game was called off. The second time, we turned up only for Spotland to be in darkness, (frozen pitch), then winning two Juan, thanks to a Dave Walton yeder right at the death. Oh, and The Kit Kat Stadium, York, has me licking my lips. I seem to remember a pre season tour to Ireland with a picture of the famous town fan, Monty, with a drink in his hand, but I didn't do that Juan. Although I can recall a Shropshire Senior Cup match at Bridgnorth, when Asa Hartford was allegedly in charge, and me and the lad having a coffee from the Buff A in a glass cup, and the lady saying, "Now you will bring the cups back, won't you? We had Millwall here last week, and a couple of them didn't return their cups". I made the last bit up. You been further than Walsall?

Dark Lane, Rossendale was the quirkiest one I've ever been to. It was near to a ski slope!

Everywhere they have played in League, cups or Trophy in the last 15 years and countless more before that. Histon and Blyth stand out as embarrassing as does Dagenham when we shipped 5. Southend away in the Trophy on a Tuesday night, when the game was held up for them to find an orange ball as the snow got heavier. Would I do it all again? Of course I would.

The dragon has an Aunt and Uncle living there, so we used to make a weekend of it. I remember losing 3 - 0 there when Paul Edwards was in goal. Some Juan shouted something derogatory at the eagle, who promptly challenged the bloke to meet him outside after the game. Another fan shouted at our keeper, "Paul, we've come all this way to support you, and you go and threaten us". (He hadn't actually threatened any Juan, just said he'd meet the first bloke outside). The eagle apologised, but this supporter was having none of it. "Yes, all this way to support you", etc, eagle apologised again, and walked to the edge of his box to get away from the moaning ****er!

Blythe, Histon, Carlisle on a Tuesday, Yeovil JPT on a Tuesday springs to mind, Grimsby, Boston, Hartlepool, Torquay ...
I'm sure there's more horror stories, I've been 1 of less than 100 plenty of times on a Tuesday night miles away somewhere!

My former club had a G/K crisis so I was called out of retirement. Luckily our result was better than Town’s - a two nil win.

I watched a few of our Welsh Cup games back in the day when we competed in the tournament, which included us lifting the trophy firstly vs Wrexham and then away at the old Farrar Road (Bangor City).

Since 78/79, I have seen Town from Dingwall (Ross County) in the north to Falmouth in Cornwall, including all league clubs they have played in that time.
Went to Portugal this summer, which was great fun, and hope they can do that again. Also seen them in Ireland on a couple of preseason tours. Connahs Quay Nomads in the Welsh cup was interesting. Played on a Wednesday afternoon as no floodlights, enter through a turnstile on a pub car park to see a pitch that went up at about 45 degrees. Won 1-0, scored by Graham Turner from memory
I think the Boston 6-0 was the worst of the lot. An awful journey back, after a miserable performance. Rarely I left just before the end, and only heard their cheers for the sixth. Only good thing that day was the Fish and Chips
Histon and Blyth were poor results, but had a good day/weekend on both occasions

Dark Lane, Rossendale was the quirkiest one I've ever been to. It was near to a ski slope! That was the location of my first and last foray onto a dry ski slope. Didn't enjoy it a bit. Wasn't much more enthused by the real thing although I did find that, after a couple of drinks, I didn't fall over as much.

I Miss Tit. Something came up and I couldn't go. The rest of them did though, and couldn't resist ringing me from a pub in the English riviera to gloat about it.

Too many to mention but a few stand out......
will never forget the unholy trinity of Ruston Boston and Cambridge three consecutive (ish) away games that made it quite clear we were going out of the league....
A few pre season friendlies, anyone remember St Blazies in Cornwall, I got a call asking if I’d do the match report for the Shropshire Star as they couldn’t send anyone. Can’t remember much of the details except we had a man sent off which the ref agreed to not mention so he wasn’t banned for the first three games, unfortunately my match report did mention it 😩 even got a credit as the reporter...
Another was when I my new wife for a weeks holiday in Devon, she was surprised when I started saying hello to people in Ilfracombe until I revealed Shrewsbury were in a Cup competition down there (Was it the Jamo Cup (nearly)) So we toured Devon taking in 3 or 4 games (my wife stayed in the Motorhome with the dogs)... seemed to remember we got to the final but GT the team home early or something like that....
Off course there’s Carlisle, Darlington and Morecombe where we turned up for the match to be postponed and probably a few more... I once went to Grimsby and the weather was so bad I stayed in the pub rather than go to the match (could have been 78/79??)

Stuttgart to Histon is about the only one I can pull out of the bag that can go someway to equal what the regulars put themselves through. I've a family now and don't have either the time nor money for such an enterprise. Thankfully. Must have been bloody daft. Other than that I was a student in Hull for a while and saw us play at the likes of Darlo, Hartlepool, Scarborough (Griffiths hat trick), Doncaster, Lincoln, Scunny and Hull of course. Never made it over the bridge to Grimsby though. Was also at that Boston game when we got battered. Was at R&D's too when we lost 5-1. When I picked Shrewsbury out as a local(ish) side I could watch and support they were a 2nd division side. Getting our arses handed back to use by the likes of Boston and Rushden wasn't quite what I envisaged. Still here though...

As well as missing the six goal drubbing at Boston, I also managed to miss the 7-1 victory at Rochdale and then had to wait many moons to see us score seven in away League game where Mr Langmead and his merry men did their best to assist us at Northampton. Worth the wait though.

Many, many places.
The Boston disaster, the Rochdale 7 goal sizzler. The Dave Walton Rochdale that gave us promotion, many enjoyable days out in the Conference.
The most disappointing - travelling to Carlisle on Good Friday, stuck in traffic and missing the entire game.
Inevitably the best was the Stadium in Milton Keynes on THAT night.

All over the country
Longest mid week game was to Bournemouth and back in mid 90s a mere 550 miles
Most frustrating driving up to Carlisle to look at a frozen pitch.

Remember going to Bangor when I was on holiday in Rhyl as a boy for a friendly only to find it was our reserve team playing (apart from Peter Dolby) and we got thrashed 4-2, much to the delight of the local crowd, who were so jubilant you would have thought it was a European Cup final. Also remember a dire 1-0 defeat at Torquay on an unplayable pitch (shame it wasnt called off) when they were bottom of the league with Justin Fashanu playing for them at centre-half.

Wherever the hell Rushden and Diamonds played! The arsed end of nowhere or the back beyond, I can't remember which! I do remember we lost an FA Cup 1-0 to a miss hit cross!

I can't begin to compete with Town, although your Good Friday traffic delay brings back horrible recent memories of getting stuck on the way to Rochdale, arriving in time to see Nsiala receiving treatment and being forced off with us 0-1 up, apparently playing well and Nathan Thomas having scored with one of his occasional moments of quality. All I saw after arriving was us being useless and defeat pretty much confirming our fading automatic promotion dream had ended. I might have preferred to have missed the whole match. I did travel from Bath to Widnes to find the game frozen off half an hour before kick off so I understand the frustration of anyone experiencing that. And I travelled some distance across Tuscany for a derby match between Livorno and Siena to find we couldn't pay at the gate, even though there were only about 10,000 inside.

We also drew Porthmadog away in 1977. I was at home at the time so I thought yes, I'll go to it as it will be a mid week afternoon fixture and I can go on the train from Tywyn. Unfortunately Porthmadog FC decided to play the game at the Gay Meadow instead (I think there would have been a financial incentive offered to switch the tie) and as it was an evening fixture I ended up not going.

Did any Juan else go Farnborough in the Conference season? I believe we about 300 odd. Bit of a trek from our neck of the woods. I was Billy no mates that day. Probably not the most attractive venue, or perhaps it was the thought of spending about 7 hours round trip in my company. A lady who went through the turnstyle before me said, "blimey, what a dump". The turnstyle operator was most indignant at the remarks. I'd just say the stadium was very well worn. The fust thing that struck me was how long the grass was. I thought they'd forgot to cut it, but it turned out that as Farnborough were part time, it was to slow the ball down. I remember them playing 5 across the middle in a defensive line-up. (Sound familiar?) I believe Darby and Rodgers scored our goals. www.skysports.com/football/farnborough-vs-shrewsbury/table/47676
