I doubt if either Bolton or Southend will even reach the 35 points we have now! Hmm. You SURE about that? In Southends case they need to win 7 out of their last 12 games to go above us at 35 points (+ the GD). They have won THREE so far. However poor we are i really dont see them overtaking us. Tranmere maybe can overhaul us, but even they would need virtually promotiom form to do so. Anyway we will get the win or two to make us safe sometime soon im sure.

Anyway, away from League 1 fair play for any Dover fans who followed their team away tonight - all the way up to Barrow....The return fixture was a couple of weeks ago, also on a Tuesday night, i beleive around 50 Barrow fans were there.
Think both games were not scheduled for midweek but got postponed either for weather or cup games.
Also a thought for Harrogate who had a long enough trip to Barnet abandoned at HT due to heavy rain.

How the hell did we screw £2m out of them for Toto and Nolan? Hurst. The best thing he ever did for us in terms of a successful outcome, though it did not seem like that at the time.

Update to this post. Im told that the original fixture at Barrow had to be postponed before Xmas as the Dover team elected to travel by rail and there was a problem on the line so they never made it to Barrow. Seems some of their fans did. The reverse fixture a couple of weeks ago was postponed due to at least one of the teams being involved in the Trophy. After the game the Barrow team coach broke down so the players got home on the supporters coach. After this and stops for food they arrived back in Barrow at 7am. All part of supporting your club ........

Barrow away doesn't sound the most appealing of away days.
Probably the reason that both they and Workington were voted out of the League in the days of re election.

Undoubtedly didnt help with thier location. Undoubtedly out in the sticks. Hoping they complete the season as they have done up to now, would love to see them come back into the FL. And then would love them to draw a Moneybags United in the FL Cup, just to hear the screams and wails of the away manager.

On a similar note I will be tuning in to the EFL semi final tonight between Salford and Crawley, some don't like the competition but it's good to see 2 unfashionable teams on the box, and certainly a great alternative to Man City v West Ham. The other semi last night was a classic with Portsmouth just edging Exeter in extra time, with a player I have little time for, and Gareth Bale's doppelganger (guess who?) getting the winner deep into injury time. Hoping Crawley get through as they have very little exposure at the best of times.

I would bet a few hundred on Crawley not progressing - they finished bottom of their group in the first round and have taken no further part. Salford are playing Newport tonight with winners going on to meet Pompey.

After the game the Barrow team coach broke down so the players got home on the supporters coach. After this and stops for food they arrived back in Barrow at 7am. All part of supporting your club ........ Reminds me of an experience I had back in 1978. My local village football club, Towyn FC had a midweek Welsh Cup replay away at Bridgend Town. The club organised a coach and we left home about 2pm as we had to go via Newtown to pick up some of our players. When we got to Bridgend, the coach driver mistakenly went to the Brewery field, the home of Bridgend RUFC. It was pitch black and we were well and truly lost (and this was in the day well before sat navs!). We ended up going into a nearby pub to ask for directions. Anyway we eventually got to the right ground, but by this point we were so late the kick off had to be put back to 8pm. After 90 minutes we were all square so the game went to extra time. Bridgend Town scored twice and won 4-2. By the time the players were ready to leave it had gone 11pm. On the return journey we got over our disappointment by tucking into the food and copious amount of beer that we had brought along. The trouble with drinking lots of beer of course is that the coach then had to make regular toilet stops! We had just got to the outskirts of Rhayader when the coach broke down. After an hour or so the driver managed to get it going again but it was clearly unwell and it crawled home for the rest of the journey. By the time I got back home to my house it was nearly 6am. I would sneak in quietly, I thought only to walk into the kitchen to find my mum and dad already up. My dad was a haulage driver and was making an early start as he had a long trip to Scotland ahead. My mum went ballistic...(again this was years before the mobile phone had been invented) where have you been she said...whilst my dad quietly laughed to himself. I thought I would end being banned from any further such trips but my mum soon relented. The joys of supporting your local club

I'm absolutely amazed that Bebington is in 1st place. I taught at the College there for a short while and didn't see anything which made it stand out. Just another small town on the Wirral.

Slightly surprised TBF, especially as it seems that it was voted Number 1 in 2015 when Royal Mail did their last poll. I can only assume that easy access to the M53 for Liverpool and Chester/Manchester has had an impact on the mix with regards to jobs etc. I've always found it difficult to be specific as to where Bebington begins and, for example, Birkenhead ends. On a football level I've always viewed the area just behind the big stand behind the goal at Prenton Park as one boundary as that end of the ground is traditionally known as The Bebington End. TBF I had to look on Wikki to get more information, Thornton Hough is a very beautiful village, full of quaint cottages mixed with some very substantial mansions, and Raby Mere is a very scenic spot. Interesting to see that The Wirral has 3 postcodes in the national Top 10, none of which are anything like as beautiful as what we have in Shropshire but the work/life mix is considered better on The Wirral

According to BBC stats,Ipswich had no shots in 1st half. Lambert will be under immense pressure if score stays the same.

I got the impression that the Ipswich faithful saw their relegation as a bit of a buggerance. To be endured for a season down amongst the kick and rush merchants of League 1 before joining their peer group in the Championship to battle for a place in The Premiership where they rightfully belong . Looks like promotion this season is but a dream . Absolutely great , plus the fact they still have to come to Shrewsbury to face us . Hopefully we will get 3 points and send them on their way to moan like f.ck on their message board that they lost to bloody Shrewsbury . Looks like Hurst and Lambert have done for them good and proper .

It will be a tough league next season if Middlesbrough come down and join Sunderland , Ipswich and Portsmouth and if they don't then likely to be one of Stoke, Charlton, Wigan, Hull or even Huddersfield who are all with in 4 points of Middlesbrough.

Interesting comment by an Ipswich fan on Fleetwood.
'Will be an incredibly tough game. Also an incredibly tough team to predict how they will line up. Last 4 games have seen them opt for 4 different formations, 2 of which were 4 at the back, 2 of which were 3.
Last 4 games have been Wycombe, Peterborough, Portsmouth and Sunderland.
Won 3 Drew 1. On a great run'.

I remember walking to Boothferry Park in the winter with the wind howling in from the North Sea. Now that was cold! Huddersfield had a rather basic pub just down the road from the ground that served nearly everything in a giant Yorkshire Pudding.

That North Sea wind can be vicious but at least the chips were always nice.
