I assume he's going nowhere unless we pay him off and cancel his registration. Then as a free agent he'll no doubt sign for Salford or Swindon the following day. Too late now I think. If he is released after 5pm today he's stuck until January as he was registered with us when the window closed. He could still sign for a National League club as they don’t operate with transfer windows but we may as well pay him off now and get him out of the building if Ricketts has no intention of putting him anywhere near the squad.

True but can't imagine him doing that. Have to see what transpires

Wonder if we have had to disclose the nature of the disciplinary issues that have kept Grant away from the first team to Swindon? Sure it will all come out in the wash eventually

Wonder if we have had to disclose the nature of the disciplinary issues that have kept Grant away from the first team to Swindon? Sure it will all come out in the wash eventually We've kicked the can down the road a bit, to 5th January to be precise, until it potentially becomes an issue again. Hopefully he does well and Swindon will want to extend the loan for the second half of the season. It would also be interesting to know how much of his wages we're still paying, but I doubt that will become known.

It will be undisclosed.

Good. Even if the loan ends and he's back in January, at least some of the cost of his contract will have been met elsewhere.

Have the club officially informed anybody why he has been excluded..a very important part of the team I thought and we paid his wages.

I doubt anything will come out until he's no longer an employee of Shrewsbury Town.

If they want him after January then they will need to take him off our hands....permanently.

There is no chance whatsoever that we'll be recalling him. So he's all yours Wellens.

Only question would be whether it’s an extension of the current loan deal or if we manage to squeeze a fee for him. Let’s hope he doesn’t get injured and sent back.

A learned Inspector muses: “Taking him on loan in January is taking him off our hands....[sic] permanently.” But if he leaves on a permanent deal in January then he's off our wage bill sooner rather than later and we may even recoup some if not all of the fee we paid for him.

No way will he leave on a permanent deal. Swindon know damned well we don't want him. If they are operating on the basis that we are paying some of his wages (I believe we are coughing up about £200 a week to Grimsby for Waterfall) then they'll happily continue with the arrangement.

I must have missed the or to show it was humour and then confused you with the same person responsible for about 20% of all the posts in the Greg Docherty thread. My mistake.
