Offering a 2 year contract to a player making the step up from the 6th tier to tier 3 was stop on.
Waiting to the end of the season to offer him another contact was also spot on. He struggled at times this season and Askey dropped him.
Lovely fella, and a good solid right-back. The league is full of them.

He’d be stupid not to take an opportunity like that. And I bet the money ain’t bad too .. they’d be willing to nearly double what we could offer you’d imagine quadruple more like

He also knew that when Sears recovers from his injury he isn't getting in the team anyway.

Poor from the club letting it get to this. He wouldn't have commanded a huge fee, yet you feel it's £250k+ missed. Plus we paid a fee of at least £70k to get him in the first place. Do you have a source for the £70K? I am surprised that Pompey have gone for Bolton. I am happy to be proved wrong (not many people rated Craig Mcgillivray and he had a good season at Fratton Park) because he comes over as a genuine bloke, but I think he has reached his peak and doesn't appear to have what it takes to move up a level. Pompey are bound for the Championship and James could well end up as nothing more than a squad player. Yes, Gateshead's website stated they rejected £65k. I mean it could've been £66k that got accepted but you'd think £70k+.

Can you please tell me in which dimension were we fielding bids of 250k for a run of the mill right back? Also failing evidence of bids where in this cosmic realm have you got that 250k valuation from?

Also failing evidence of bids where in this cosmic realm have you got that 250k valuation from? A 24 year old right with two years in League One who has effortlessly steeped up three leagues. If he had a year left, what would you value him at? I personally thought £250k was a reasonable fee if circumstances were different and he had a year left. Oh well, what could've been.

Would have liked to see him stay, but wish Bolts all the best at Pompey and hope he continues to improve as a player. Kenny Jacket seems to have an eye for talent playing at Shrewsbury - Craig Mac g, Bryn Morris and now Bolts.

Portsmouth just inferred they will be announcing a new signing on twitter, so expect it to be him. I'm sure he will flourish there. A very decent right back I think and i expect will follow more of a Craig Mac line than Bryn Morris

Can’t blame the lad for taking his chances and it must be remembered that the club he said he was keen to stay at will now not be the same as it was.

Think this is another of those where the clubs prudent and necessary wage structure gets blow out of the water by other clubs
If you look at other clubs in league one wage bills some are 60/70% higher than ours and I imagine Bolton is being offered significantly more by Portsmouth than we can offer - maybe as much as 50% difference.
Portsmouth can probably afford it more than others due to their crowds but it’s still annoying that Salop try to run things the right way and still lose players due to not being able to meet wages other league one or even league 2 sides are offering

I can't wait to see Abo Eisa run rings round him next season and expose his lack of pace. If Abo was Welsh, or had Wolves connections, rest assured he would be one of the first names on the team sheet.
