For now.
Give it ten years, redevelop the riverside and it'll look different.
And they'll be getting a much better return on investment through rents than other investments in between.

I’d ignore what the Star says about all things council related. I have friends who work at the council and they say most of what it writes is complete and utter swollocks

doesn't matter really if the value has fallen, it's whether the revenue they get from it is enough surely

Any fool could see it was not the time to get into High Street property a year ago, though it may well soon be so low as to me a good time. The council does get more control over the future of the area though and maybe they would not have that opportunity this year. We'll see.
