That's very sad. Niki was racing when safety wasn't as strict as it is now. He suffered horrific burns, but bravely didn't let it stop him continue to contribute to F1. There's no doubt he was a great talent. People still talk about him to this day.
RIP Niki.

What an amazing brave competitor he was. To come back from such horrific injuries was testament to the man.
A sad loss not just to motor sport.
RIP Niki

He raced just over a month after his horrific accident!!! True courage
Still very much a figure on the F1 scene, although his health had suffered recently.
R.I.P. Mr Lauda

Very sad loss to motorsport. An absolute legend in many ways and great man of integrity and standing amongst the best drivers in history. Brave, brave, brave as well
RIP

I know little about motor sport and am interested even less but some people transcend their sport and Niki Lauda was such a figure.
I'm sure he was a great F1 driver but it's the comeback from his horrific injuries that I suspect most will remember.
