First of all you deserved to win. No question about that. You played all the football while our lot played their usual 'hoof ball' c**p. I personally felt it was never a penalty, awarded by a referee that would struggle to reach conference standard. The penalty re-take was also harsh on you and you should rightly feel hard done by.
Two things I think should be cleared up though. Just what did Darren Moss think he was doing? The ball was dead and a throw in for you lot when he came in kung fu style with the kind of tackle that could have ended a players career. He let you down badly. Secondly the injury to Challis was actually caused by one of his own players. Challis was challenging with a Chester player for a high ball when another Shrewsbury player came steaming in and actually clashed heads with him. The fact that Challis was injured and off the field of play (and was receiving medical attention) meant the referee didn't need to stop the game. A touch ironic really because just before that one of your players was down injured while you were in possession of the ball and your players chose to play on rather than put the ball out.
A thoroughly forgetable performance from Chester ruined by a totally inept showing by a very picky referee. On todays showing it will be Chester who have more to fear than you in the near future.

About Mossy, he has these things sometimes...

I've been thinking for a while now that Chester and Shrewsbury will finish very close together. Shades of 2000.

Gary Peters certainly didnt endorse Mossy's actions on Radio Shropshire and I think he is heading for a heavy fine, Mossy's disclipine is starting to get appalling, when someone gets involved in a slanging match why is it always Mossy?

Cestrianblue for president !
Moss had no business getting involved in that tackle(!) so soon after his previous with the same player -as did their player ten minutes later with Jamie i think it was.
However I have to take issue over the Chalis incident . I was under the impression that a head injury warranted immediate stopping of play. the guy didn't move for five minutes and surely the ref (I use the term in the broadest possible terms) should have halted play.
As for the penalty - Chester hold your head in shame. IF that's the way you want to play then you could definately benefit from conference referring

A Chester fans' view from the heart... (Music from Mike Reads' 'Your tune') Don't make us laugh Chester ©fbs2004. Every time Shrewsbury deserve 3 points at the Divvy Saunders Moped Stadium you cheat a draw. You'll be denying you haven't beat Wrexham since 1987 next... Class picture. I liked the bit when the aliens led the man up the ramp by his hands into the space craft.

Fair summary that. Darren Moss retaliated from an earlier tackle that the ref failed to act on, red card for me , the Chester player concerned commited the same offence again and was punished with a second yellow. The incident on the touchline with Challis was unfortunate, we tried to make a sub for about 2/3 mins before the ref even looked over.

I see Swansea had 89 minutes 20 secs to pull back the defecit at Sc***horpe.... Tearful two return soccer swag
Dec 9 2004 Western Mail TWO drunken football fans were kicking themselves yesterday after realising they had burgled their own soccer club. The hungover supporters woke to find their shameful loot lying next to them. It then dawned on them they were the burglars who raided the Vetch Field taking a set of irreplaceable framed Swansea City shirts. The club put out an appeal for information at the weekend after the Vetch was entered and the signed shirts were taken from a glass display cabinet which was smashed into. The two teenagers who carried out the raid decided to own up after searching their consciences and hearing threats on the Jackarmy.net (unofficial) club website the matter could be "sorted out privately". They sheepishly returned to the ground yesterday with the shirts they stole plus £300 in cash to pay for the damage. Club director Dave Morgan said, "They were such big fans they were even wearing their own Swans shirts. They said they had been drunk and walking past the club after a night on the town decided to break in. "After speaking to the two lads concerned we are prepared to treat this matter as a prank and have called off the police investigation. "We have been compensated for damage and we accept that the culprits were genuinely remorseful, in fact they were in tears when they arrived at the club with the shirts." The break-in happened in the early hours of Sunday after the Swans returned from their scoreless FA Cup draw away to Stockport County. Players and officials returned on Sunday morning to find smashed glass strewn across the ground and the Swansea City shirts missing. The shirts commemorated some of the most glorious moments in the club's history including, ironically, the 1994 win at Wembley in the competition sponsored by replacement glass firm Autoglass. The shirts will be put back on show under glass once the club moves to the as yet unnamed stadium at Morfa, two miles north of the city centre. Yesterday, emails to the Jackarmy.net website questioned whether the miscreants should have been "let off" and allowed to return the shirts without the matter being referred to the police.

Agreed it was never a penalty and we were embarrassing. If I was a Shrews fan I'd have been mortified last night fair play!
But with a referee like the one we had yesterday, time running out and a one-nil deficit you can't blame are fella for having a dive in the box. I'm sure many of you in the same situation as us, having played as badly as us and noing you weren't going to create any kind of chance with a minute to go would have expected the same from one of yours?
Good luck for the rest of the season, lets hope when we next meet neither of us are scrapping around the relegation zone like we are at the mo. I fear if anyone will be scrapping at that end of the table after yesterday it will certainly be us though

The fact that Challis was injured and off the field of play (and was receiving medical attention) meant the referee didn't need to stop the game. yes it was off the pitch but the ref was wrong not to stop the play. what is more important the well being of a player or a game of football. by not stopping the game this meant the stretcher had to come all the way round the side of the pitch, if game had been stopped they could have come straight across the pitch. challis was about a foot away from the touchline, what would have happened if the ball had dropped there and a challenge resulted in someone colliding with phsio, doctors and challis? the lads clearly unconcious and had a big gash to his face, their was concern from the medical staff for his well being. and what was the policeman doing pushing his face in the way of gp who was trying to get the ref to stop the game?

. and what was the policeman doing pushing his face in the way of gp who was trying to get the ref to stop the game? Exactly Ian but you have to bear in mind that the copper in question enjoy's a certain noteriety for confrontation. On a similar note , i thought the Police were good yesterday. I went on the train with my son and a few friends and from the time we arrived at the station , had a few pints in town and afterwards, they were helpful, polite and appropriate. Credit where it's due.
