Hi All
I know a lot of folks on hear knew Ed. I have been contacted by his friends to pass on a message that there is going to be a Wake for Ed at the New Meadow at 8pm in the Presidents suite. This will be on Saturday the 4th of May (after the end of the Waslall game).
There will be a buffet, cash behind the bar for drinks and a range of people from Eds life including hopefully some of the B and A crew that knew him.
Hopefully this gives some of you that knew him a chance to remember him in the place he loved the most.
Any questions let me know and I can maybe get them answered.

Thanks, I just knew him as Eddie. I had numerous chats with Eddie, both on-line and in person at matches when he was fit enough to attend. I never knew his surname and I doubt if he knew mine. Rest in peace Eddie.

I popped along after the game Saturday to the wake with my son Tom and Colin Storey(Herefordshrew). There were around 15 there including some of Eddie’s school and college friends. We heard from a couple of Eddie’s old friends including Howard Thorne from Shropshire Homes. Howard had organised some buffet food and some free drinks. We stayed for about 45 minutes, listened to their stories and shared a drink with them.
I was amazed at some of the nice stories about Eddie, a guy who had an ability to be a success in everything he did, yes he lived on the edge and sometimes beyond it in terms of his opinions but he stuck to his beliefs which him to that edge.
Howard told a great story about how the time they were travelling back from the Exeter great escape game and Eddie got himself live on a Radio sports phone-in, and somehow he got the conversation around to when Shrewsbury played Chelsea in 1966, we lost 3-2 but his point was the third goal by Peter Osgood was offside. The phone in was about us having survived at Exeter but Eddie wouldn’t let it go over that third goal all those years before. Amazing story but that was Eddie.
I’m glad I went along just to hear that story and to have a chance to pay my respects.
RIP Eddie
