We could have played without a keeper today, he'll never get an easier game. The ironic cheers from the Southend fans when Mitchell fielded a tame effort in the 80th says everything. That said, we can only beat what's in front of us and we've often screwed up spectacularly in these circumstances so well done Town, a very important three points. our record against teams around us is not the best , so winning away and beating a team below us is important.

also shows that minimum tinkering when performance wasnt bad does the trick yes the only change was forced on him through Arnolds injury , i suppose it is too much to hope he leaves the tinkering alone.

Our first double of the season and we're no longer the worst away team in the division, things are looking up.

Massive boost for the town, 3 undoubtedly deserved and needed points, my heart (and head) says were safe now..
The game at home to Sc***horpe next week is massive after they lost at home to AFC Wimbledon.
SUFC's last away win came at Fleetwood Town on the 26th January where they won just 1-0, they failed to pick up any points in the league on the road in February and March.
3-1 Town next Saturday!

On the train back. Very good second half performance - I thought Laurent made a lot of difference when coming on for the injured Norburn.
Southend look in real trouble as do a few teams around them. Game against Scunny is a huge opportunity to pull away.

That was our most convincing away win of the season, and possibly the best away performance I've seen, apart from maybe Portsmouth.
It says a lot that we still don't really know if Mitchell's any good, as he had basically nothing to do for 90 minutes.

Fair play, a very well deserved away win. Town always the better team, even more so in a comfortable second half that hardly gave Southend a sniff. Could and should have had 3. Encouraging, huge and enjoyable. That’s all I can ask for.
The trip home feels a lot sweeter this week. 2 good performances in a row, the latter with the 3 point reward it deserved. SR may have stumbled across the players that are his best. Salop!

The 2 people I feel most pleased for are Coyne and Ramsey. They could have stayed in nice secure jobs as GC and Yoof team coach, but a chance in stepping up.

these are the games that town must win if we are to stay up.we looked comfortable but then we played a very poor team who now have not won a game for 12 matches and asked very few questions of town. if only the rest of the matches will be as comfortable, scoring first was crucial today as it virtually silenced the crowd acording to the commentator scoring the second lead to some heads to drop. in the games to come do town have the battling fighting attitude against teams who may ask more of us ? can we show some grit if we go behind ? let us hope we do and after today Ricketts drops the rotation.

Coleman at Accrington and Bowyer at Bradford. Two managers who I would have loved to have seen at Shrewsbury but both in freefall at their respective clubs and possibly heading for Division 2. Be careful what you wish for.

Bowyer only signed a contract at Bradford until the end of the season, I suspect he'll be available again in the summer.

also shows that minimum tinkering when performance wasnt bad does the trick doesn't prove anything really does it ? had we made 4 changes, who knows , we might have won 5-0 we won at Peterborough , made 4 or 5 changes and played great v doncaster it does back up what sam said 2 weeks back , that playing midweek was having a big effect on his team selection with niggles and fitness issues I think some fans owe him a bit of credit after the chants the other week of not knowing what hes doing it would be nice to hear them being positive towards him next week

That was a massive massive win. Southend absolute garbage, that's a relegated team if ever I saw one. Town huffed and puffed first half and never really got a grip on the game even if we looked comfortable at the back. Beckles had a fabulous first half and as soon as the 2nd half started Town moved things up a gear. Grant was the absolute nuts, he totally bossed the 2nd 45 mins, he was immense. A slip from the defender and Fej was away. His finish was immaculate, hands down he was the only player on the pitch who would have scored that. Across the keeper into the bottom corner, the only place the keeper could not get to.
After that we could have had another 2 or 3 such was Southend's ineptitude. Next week is a huge game against a stuttering Scunny, with a real chance to get one foot in league 1 for next season.

7 bookings for Scunny today Do bookings count for anything now? Think when we were talking about Grants booking a while ago think we found out that after 37 games there is an amnesty? Seems a bit of a strange one, maybe someone can confirm.

Win next week and I am confident we will finish the job off. But you know Town and how they often do things the hard way.

Only 3 pages for a win, where are the usual moaners who can create 8 pages for a loss, too self opinionated to give a bit of credit where it's due . Well done Salop great result to shut a few up (until next time!!!!).

Only 3 pages for a win, where are the usual moaners who can create 8 pages for a loss The match threads for our last three wins were 14 pages (Wycombe), 6 pages (Doncaster) and 8 pages (Peterborough). The match thread for the defeat against Portsmouth last week was 4 pages.

Less to say after a routine win over a very poor side.
You can't really expect people to be effusive with praise just because we beat one of the weakest teams in the division.
Very pleased with the result though; credit where credit's due, that was a 6 pointer. You can only beat what's in front of you and we did so comfortably.
