"Wycombe are a strong, powerful team, very clear on how they're going to play. It's easy for their players to understand".
I wonder if SR appreciates the irony of that statement.

Arnold, Sears, Williams, Waterfall, Haynes, Grant, Norburn, Laurent, Docherty, Payne and Campbell. Subs to come on:Whalley, Edwards, Okenabirhie. Get our most productive players starting. out of interest, how many games have you been to lately ? The thrilling Wimbledon game was my last charitable contribution to the club. As I see it there's not much choice up front. Holliway is not good enough so Payne and Campbell. The four across midfield are still our best players. One of those four has picked up mom most weeks and defence picks its self.

Wycombe , hardly the glamour boys of the Division, yet I wonder if we will see Joe Jacobson back. 6 goals as a defender when I looked, although they leak them too. I remember his screamer for us against the Blades ...., also El Abd, they not won since January ..., Yes it's a 6 pointer this one.

Mitchell, Sears Williams Waterfall Haynes, Grant Norburn Docherty, Whalley Fejiri Campbell.
Norburn & Grant very much holding midfielders in this one, Docherty freedom to roam and help out a lively front three. Happy to see Campbell & Fejiri swap around a bit, though think Fejiri is a waste out wide & Campbell’s all round game some way short of a central striker in a three, Fejiri seems more capable at holding onto possession.
I pick 4 3 3 because despite the results, Askey had us playing decent football in that system for much part, he just moved away from it under intense scrutiny because the goals weren’t coming - though I’d argue chances were there early on in the season & we were much more ‘possession’ based and thus conceding few chances and, importantly, less set pieces. We still lost because we didn’t have a goalscorer up there, we had Holloway. In fact, our worst and most inept away showings have been with the much sought after 3 5 2 (Oxford under Askey, most games under Ricketts) & 4 4 2 (Fleetwood away). I think this bunch of players were brought in and trained to the 4 3 3 all season, and despite glimpses of excellence from the 3 5 2, 4 3 3 is the system this bunch feel most comfortable in.
Many won’t agree, but that’s what I’d do. Failing that, just anything without Arnold, Beckles, Golbourn, Edwards or Payne in it please!

However I don't think Arnold has been that bad and don't think it's the right time game to blood Mitchell. Plus I don't think Payne has been given a fair crack. We can't just be pumping long balls up to the fella, then say he is not good enough. Glad someone else can finally see Edwards is not what we need right now.

Arnold Bolton Waterfall Williams Sadler, Grant Norburn Whalley Docherty Campbell Okenabirhie
I know Sadler’s legs have gone, but he can’t be any worse tha goldbourn and Haynes just can not defend. I don’t want him to overlap Campbell, just do the basics right.
Grant and Norburn should have enough physicality to compete and the 4 attacking players should have enough quality to make some chances.
The front 4 press and try and make them hit it long to a back 4 who can all head it clear.

No point trying to second guess the team, will be another random assortment. My biggest fear is we play Holloway in light of the 'physical' comments from Rickets
We have to play Fejiri and Tyrese up front, imagine them two running at El-Abd.

if El Abd is playing then you know he has no pace, press him and he will do something rash.

That was my first thought. Let's play right into their hands. Afer all, it worked so well against the "physical" Wimbledon, didn't it? We know how slow El Abd is. Hopefully, somebody has communicated this forcefully to Ricketts.

If anyone is planning on going into Town ahead of the match just be aware that the flood barriers are up so Frankwell car park and most of St Julians Car parks are closed today, so parking might be in short supply in the Town centre

Talking to my brother-in-law who is a Luton fan and is still smarting from their encounter with Wycombe last month. Luton won but he said: "Be prepared for a physical battle, time-wasting from the off and a very late finish. Anti-football at its worst."

Expects a physical game. AAH is starting to defend some corners then.

Arnold
Bolton Williams Waterfall Haynes
Grant
Norburn Docherty
Whalley Campbell Okenabirhie
Whalley has to play further forward as he is wasted at wing back. He's receiving the ball 20 yards deeper than he should be.

He should play 4-4-2 and utilise Whalley further forward. Grant can play in the midfield but in front of the back four. The other part of this so called not being able to defend set pieces is not conceding the free kicks in the first place and that can be achieved by getting 10 players behind the ball. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, bodies behind the ball will stop the free kicks and set pieces. We also have the pace to break and score goals. It’s not rocket science and we need points ......not footballing equations based on a 2-1 degree.

12 minutes to go until we can find out what rubbish selections Ricketts has chosen today for our 6 pointer..
expecting to see Holloway start with the wind and the the fact it’ll be particularly physical.

Ricketts gets his excuse in early
" Town's routine was slightly altered this week as they trained on Wednesday – their usual recovery day – after not arriving back from Plymouth until the early hours of the morning"

Anything less than a win with that team selection and Ricketts has more or less dug his own grave.
