Referees like the pratt today are causing more agro by making increasingly poor decisions and costing teams points and players (sometimes even managers). Surely its about time football fans attempted to get together and complain to get these halfwits who know little about football and the laws of the game out of the game! I'm a referee myself and i know for sure that the league officials are trained and educated to do their very best in all situations. However, its now turning into a case that all officials are becoming arrogant prats who know they can get away with murder and enjoy having a laugh at the expense at other people. Mr Colin Webster could have caused no end of trouble at the end of the game today and from some posts ive read may very well have already caused enough trouble! I'll be complaining in writing to the FA about Mr Webster along with another ref i was talking to after the game. Anyone else care to do the same? lETS GET THESE ARROGANT HALFWITS OUT OF OUR NATIONAL GAME
btw - a great performance today. we looked fitter, better organised and had a will to get a result!! bring on MTFC!

Is there an address to write to for both the FA and the Football League. The officials today were not only inept, incompetent, and completely thick, they could also have caused a serious further injury to one of our players on the side of the pitch actually a very serious matter I would think -endangering someone in the course of their work. Next time Mr. Webster could really do some damage. It is about time that match officials were made to realise the responsibility they take not only for the teams and their welfare, but also for not being the causes of incitement to riot. After today and other cases of bad officials I can well understand why there is trouble at grounds - supporters pay a lot of money to go to grounds - and should be able to expect the highest standard of fair play at all times - if we were so inept at our jobs on such a regular basis, I would suggest that we would be sacked. Quite frankly, I have had enough of bad officials and the difference they can make to: (a) my blood pressure (b) my temper (c) the future of my club (d) the future of football. Let's face it none of them have or deserve the respect of Callina - isn't it time he started a school for them? I listened to 6 0 5 on my way home - there were dozens of supporters complaining about refs but none of them had the need to complain about one actually endangering a player. There must be something we can do. Right rant over - I am now going to rate the ref - well at least that won't take long.

For anyone who missed today game here a brief recap of the refs preformance today: Gave a penalty for running into a Town defender and falling over. HE THEN ADMITTED HE WAS WRONG! Then ordered a retake of the penalty for no obviuous reason (he also waited until we had cleared the ball until he ordered the retake) Failed to stop play for a serious injury to trev, even waved play on stuart Whitehead when he was pointing out the injury whilst Stu was taking a throw in. (causing GP to blow a gasket and nearly invade the pitch-Good Stuff Well Done Gary! Stopped play or Issued yellow cards for virtually every challenge! Gave Mossy a straight red for a late challenge (v.little malice I think, hust late)-when he had previously been involved in some agro with Chesters Ellison-Ellison (who resembles a Nazi-storm trooper) had been on mission to cripple a Town player since the start of the game. In all Cr@p ref, Cr@p ground, Cr@p home fans...and above all AN F**KING APPALING PA GUY!!! 'alot of very unfair critism following our result on Tues..' '..and Chester city finally score..' That last comment could easily have started a riot outside. Good grief, thank god we have Jervis!

Excellent summing up. I've rated the ref and left a comment mainly about trev but I expect it will be deleted.

sorry but the incident with your injured player, the ref was totally correct to allow play to continue. your lad was still recieving treatment from your physio (was he not?) your player WAS NOT on the pitch and therefore the game DID NOT NEED to be stopped. if he had been on the pitch then yes i would have expected the game to be stopped but he was OFF the pitch i will support the ref in that decision. i will not support the ref with first 2 red cards though because i think he was weak and reacted to the players appeals.
as for your manager during the incident when your player was injured OFF the pitch, he should have been sent to the stands because not only was he using foul and abusive language to EVERYONE around the dugout but he also stood over the white line ON the pitch for a good 5 minutes.
thats my rant over, good luck for the rest of the season and we'll see u all at gay meadow, whenever we play u there!!!!!

Our manager, Gary Peters was correct to be so angry over the incident.
He was trying to protect one of his players. It was a serious injury, Challis was in a hell of a lot of trouble. Our physio needed to be on the pitch to treat him properly but was stopped from being allowed to give proper treatment.

PEDRO THE ONLY REASON WHY HE WAS OFF THE PITCH WAS BECAUSE THAT WAS WHERE HE LANDED AFTER BEING POLL-AXED! IT WAS A HEAD INJURY THEREFORE PLAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED-HE HAD NOT ACTUALLY BEEN TAKEN OF THE FIELD OF PLAY (IE BY A PHYSIO) THEREFORE PLAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED!!!!! (sorry about the liberal use of the caps lock but i'm livid about that incident)

if a player is OFF the pitch, the referee doesnt need to call the physio over to the injured player. he was off the pitch meaning the game could go on. there was no need for the referee to stop the game, BUT if the injured player was in the middle of the pitch then the game should be stopped, yes. but the referee was correct in his decision NOT to stop the game

s**t happens.
sometimes you get a decent one sometimes you dont.
Its a shame, yes the ref was very poor, however the ref can't be blamed for Whiteheads missed header, Langmead missing a sitter and Street and Tolley both missing good chances...

I was very disspointed with the referee to be honest. If he is ever is in a similar position to Trevor Challis and people walk on by then I applaud them - the attention seeking tosspot.

Re: what we can do about bad refs.
Bad refereeing and match-costing decisions is a part of the game and what goes around comes around.
I personally think the FA need to review their system of coaching/promoting referees. It also seems strange to me that refs have to retire at a very early age from the professional game.
Also more ex-footballers need to be encouraged into becoming refs; so many refs have blatently never played football before and this really affects the way they control the game.

pedro,
challis was about a foot from the touchline, he was out of it and bleeding from his head, he was attended by physio and 3 medical staff, they were about a foot away from the touchline.
the stretcher had to come all the way around the pitch as the ref didn't stop play.
if the ref's more concerned about playing on than he is about the well being of challis then he's got to take a long hard look at himself.
stop the game, check the health of the player, assess situatoin and allow player to get fully focused attention, then play on..
he was wrong.
