And an added bonus, the result will keep our Wrexham notorious in his box for a few days 😂 A shame the buggers managed a 93rd minute equaliser today though.

Can see Norburn getting sent off - he was close there. You called it, how the heck didn't Ricketts see it coming.

Darren Ferguson post-match. thanks for that , i dont like him very much but i thought it was a reasonable reflection of there performance but equally a number of the points he raised could equally apply to town this season.

it is important that he praises his players and this was a vital win but a rather rose tinted view bearing in mind town were not in this game until the penalty following a red card.

Well that was an interesting and, ultimately, very enjoyable game.
Town absolutely nowhere for the first 30 mins, poor defensively yet again for the goal but the sending off totally changed the dynamic of the game. Posh went far too deep and way too narrow when actually keeping us on the back foot then would have probably held us at bay. A superb goal from Campbell and for 15 mins either side of half time we absolutely bossed the game.
Norburn was a very silly boy. Both tackles were nailed on yellows but there was just no need to dive in for the 2nd. It was near the touchline close to half way with plenty of cover. Utter stupidity and yet again it totally changed the dynamic of the game, as we dropped deeper and narrower. That said, Posh never really looked like scoring and a very valuable three points.
A really inconsistent ref too. Missed a clear push on Amadi-Holloway and bottled 2 or 3 possible yellows for Posh players in the 2nd half for a few niggly fouls. He also played over five mins stoppage time despite the board indicating four (although the pathetic time wasting when we subbed probably deserved five mins at least). He really should have blown after we had cleared the throw in right by our corner flag, instead playing on for a very nervous 95th minute free kick.
Hard to call this one really though. Certainly a great three points, but before Toney walked we looked poor, with an awkward shape and yet again defensive fragility. With Wimbledon next week though this is a great time to nick a point on Tuesday and end the week with seven points.
Thought Grant was superb in the middle, Waterwall looked ok (not sure who lost their man for the opening goal) and Campbell has a real eye for goal. It's also very refreshing to see Whalley back. Need to find the pairing up top that works best, bring Sadler back in despite his lack of pace, get rid of Arnold who remains an utter liability, and I think this team has enough to stay up.

Massive 3 points... but it papers over a ridiculous team selection

Great to see so many people on here sharing the joy of a tremendous Saturday for Salop. A real unity in the collective today which a few absentees would do well to take note of.
Double the number of posters compared to similar results from five years ago.

Sir Ivan Toney. He must hate facing us.
Fantastic & unexpected 3 points which we must build on, but won’t with that line up on a regular basis. Yes, if Toney leaves the ball to go in, we level the scores but hard to see anything other than a few more P’boro goals if it had stayed 11 vs 11. Yes Whalley was getting at their full back, but only by being 20 yard further forward than Golbourne & at the expense of 3 early balls into the gap he was leaving. Not Whalley’s fault, though.
Anyway - that’s irrelevant. I’m delighted Ricketts got the bit of luck he & the team needed and 10 men certainly stopped P’boro exploiting our team selection. We were excellent with the extra man it has to be said, fair play. I’ve seen Town teams make next to no use of it before but today that wasn’t the case, so credit to them all & Ricketts for playing the right way with it. Encouraged that the confidence on the ball seemed to remain once Norburn was off too - we saw less of it, yes, but Grant’s chance for example was brilliantly created.
I hope this is a turning point, I really do. Up the Town!

It will be interesting to hear what the fans that went to the game have to say. Radio shrop were very concerned for us at the beginning with defence poor, but then after afrer posh man got sent off we were the dominant team. They said that Waterfall played really well throughout the games and they gave Grant MOM, but it would have been Norburn had he stupidly not got sent off. After he got sent off it was a nail biting time. I thought Rickets made some good substitutions but perhaps should have taken Norburn off before he got sent off but hindsight is a wonderful this. As Campbell is only 19 apparently guidelines are to only play players of this age for 60 mins. Well done Town a well needed win, but we need to continue winning now to be safe. "As Campbell is only 19 apparently guidelines are to only play players of this age for 60 mins. " i did not know that guideline considering he has scored back to back goals getting the best out of the 60 minutes s vital for town I cannot see that is correct considering Godfrey consistently played 90 minutes for us for half a season when he was 19.

Beckles was absolutely magnificent. One in the eye for ExKeeper. Says the font of all knowledge. Many fans besides me, are aware of his limitations. Arnold made a couple of telling saves but still you spew out your agenda.

A real turning point or a blip when a few things went our way? We'll find out soon enough. prior to ivan tony been sent off we were not in this game, so as you say "a turning point or a blip" let us hope it is the start of a turning point Toney stopped a certian goal. You can not say we was not in the game when we was about to eqalize.

The more games Beckles plays in a settled back 3 the better he will get as the unit improves...then everyone will see why we paid 100k for him.

Great win!
5 points out of 9 in the last 3 games. Hopefully we are gaining a bit of form at a vital time.
We are staying up!
Once we have we can review the manager and the squad and hopefully kick on next season.

Good 3 points loads of things we need to improve not least our stand in skippers dicipline could see it coming similar to bristol , was in cruise control till that moment of stupidity ,their goal farsacle again arnold just pick it up instead hoof out of play bump maddison delivery 0-1, waterfall did brilliant for equiliser back post header back across yet again toney handles down to ten , great second goal clever by whalley brilliant finish tyreese , saw the game out 10 v10 fairly comfortable till 95th min , good performances today especially waterfall & beckles pleased for them both .

For those that were there.... The second Norburn got his first yellow, he should have been taken off. You have to really wonder what goes through Ricketts head. I'd really like to see Barrow bt In just for some calmness during the 90 mins. If I'm being honest I still think we'll go down. How Dockerty and Ok don't start is beyond me

very unexpected bonus for me
a point today and Tuesday would have been good but we are already a point up with a game to play
its funny how a game can change after something from nothing
have to criticise rickets though for not making a change
we were coasting against 10 men and he had chance to make a change to prevent the risk of the ref evening things up but didn't this could have cost us the win and maybe even our league 1 status
come on Sam sort it out, this might still cost us as h'es now banned

It is Ricketts fault and everyone around me thought the same thing. If your 1up away from home with a man advantage you try and make sure your eleven players are not on a yellow. Granted he went from yellow to red pretty quickly, but just take him off. At the time we had all our subs available ? Today's referee can't wait to "even things up". At least we ran the clock down well today last free kick aside. Grant head and shoulders above today. Especially second half

You can not say we was not in the game when we was about to eqalize. Agree entirely, we all know we can't defend, but I keep reading that we were being totally run over by Peterborough and I did not see it that way. Thought we started quite bright and deserved our equaliser if Toney had not handled. Of course playing against 10 made it easier, but up until then the game was even.

If we lose its Ricketts fault
If we win Ricketts gets no credit and is still given s**t about other things.
It's clear from this thread that he has lost the majority of fans backing. I think it is clear from this thread.
The bloke isn't the best manager in the world, that is why he is at Salop, he is up and coming and learning.
Either way he is very unlikely to be sacked before the end of the season.

There are some big framed photos at the Meadow of Edwards and Hart. I think we should really think hard about having one of Ivan Toney. He is a town old boy who has stayed loyal to the cause and has really helped us out since leaving. If these three points are the difference between us staying up or going down at the end of the season Ivan Toney will join Micky Brown as a town legend. Arise Sir Ivan.

Can't say I see it as Ricketts fault, the fault lies with no one else but Norburn. He got a telling off in the first half. He got a yellow in the second but I didn't think he was charging about the place and looking likely to get a second yellow, there was no real suggestion that he had lost his head. It was just a really daft challenge that didn't need to be made. That's on Norburn, not Ricketts. I was watching in and I didn't think he was an accident waiting to happen, for some daft reason he just had a rush of blood to his head and went in way to heavy on their lad...
I think Norburn has really come on of late, maybe the captaincy has played a part in that. Hope he gets another chance to continue as captain. Hopefully he would have learnt something from yesterday.
