Nice to see a positive thread that represents our club well.
Makes a pleasant change from all the negativity currently being posted on this message board!

Possibly should have checked on the position of the microphones. Shadow on Jamie Edwards is a little unfortunate

Superb stuff . Well worth a look . Had no idea that the Community Team get involved In so many different areas . I recognised a few people who I knew well some years back who are now residents in a care home , on a personal level I found it at bit emotional to see them now.. STFC should be very proud indeed of their achievements through their community work. Long may they continue .

Lovely to watch Seeing what STFC in the community promote on their website and on twitter. shows the variety of initiatives for all ages is good to see. I like the euros theme soccer school tournament for children. www.stct.co.uk/Take a look at Shrewsbury Town ITC ( Stfc_ITC): twitter.com/STFC_ITC?s=09Saw this and couple of months ago

What a great expose of how the community side of the club is developing and engaging with the folk of Shrewsbury and Shropshire...great work some of it can make you quite emotional especially with the youngsters playing football and dealing with their own physical restrictions ...wonderful well done all involved!

That's why the Supporters Parliament gave Jamie Edwards the staff member of the trophy for this season... a remarkable achievement to turn the community team into the beast it is now and also support so many people in need outside of the football club.
My lad is going to there soccer school next week, and I have no doubt on the evidence of what i have seen there coaches deliver before it will be fun, engaging and hopefully flame the embers my lad is starting to get for being a Shrewsbury Town fan.
If only the ideals and ethos of the community team could leech its way into the football club proper more and more, we might have one very special football club. The worst thing the club could do and can be accused of is relying on the community team to do all the outreach, and miss engaging with the match.general fan. Its something that was raised at the last SP meeting, and something we will hope to help the club move forward with.

The ideals and ethos need to be reciprocated by us on B&A too. We need to be shouting about how positive this is on a regular basis to make sure we help spread the word of how much good the club's community arm is producing.

I don't think that's an Issue at all Ant, B and A have regally supported the STFC Community Sports Trust including for the last year a link to the trust website at the top of B and A, something we have never had before. B and A teams have entered events that have been run and helped raise money, the B and A members of the SP have worked very closely with the trust, and in general the positive comments about the trust on here have been universal.
But the trust is for all intents and purposes a separate entity that works with the good will of STFC to lend them players, managers and other things like pitch time.
There is a clear differentiation between the "the club" and the trust at the moment which is becoming more blurred. I think its perfectly valid to say that if some of the great work the community team do including things like customer service, customer interaction and organisation skills could be implemented at that club in a number of areas then everyone would benefit.
This year the trust organised a number of different events for fans to raise money for the trust, but the club could not even host one Q and A with the manager and nothing really to put players and manager in front of the fans since the sign and dine in August 2015 and they could not even manage to rustle up anyone from the club (CEO, Manager, chairman) to come and thank the fans at the end of season awards...... that's the missing piece for me... the club to follow the trusts lead and ACTIVLEY engage with the hard core of fans we already have. The overriding message that went back from the last SP was that fans still feel out of touch... The trust work does not really help that in some ways... maybe them being given the scope to run things like the junior Blues will change that eventually.
I was proud to be able to award Jamie with an award at the end of season awards for the fantastic work that's being done, and is only just over this last year being rightly recognised and celebrated.

I don't disagree with the support of events but we're talking 3 or 4 people at a golf day rather than the messageboard itself which has a reach to thousands. The link to the website is great but it is passive - people will read more about it when posts are started highlighting the community initiatives.
I ask all members who contribute regularly to highlight the positives from the trust who are massively linked to the club whenever they can.
There is an awful lot of stuff around our football club to be very, very proud of. We need to make sure this board is representative of that as well as any areas for improvement.

Hear hear Ant. There will only be one page of comments regarding this oh so positive subject whilst a thread about the lack of chips will stretch to frothing 12 pages of indignation. I am of course being a tad but you general drift. More balance on this board wouldn't go amiss at all.

Trust do great work but is worth remembering they are a charity independent from the club.
What has massively helped the trust is the effort and support Micky Mellon has put in through his own time and involving the players. Club support for the work was rather lacking under previous managers and didn't get a massive amount of funds from the club itself
If/when Mellon moves on its important the club and management continue to put their full weight behind the trust and their work

If people wish to comment on a particular aspect of the Club, whether it be at the core of it's business, or on the periphery, then I'm sure they will.
B & A is a talking shop, not a PR machine for the Club.

Gotta say that's really good and interesting stuff. Had no idea they did so much or had so many links in!
Almost a shame that the on the pitch stuff gets in the way! I've not been a fan of Mellon for a while but this shows him in a different light

Mellon continually bangs on about the importance of the club 'properly' representing the community. Delighted he practices what he preaches. I think this commitment is reflected in MM's approval ratings after a rather disappointing season. Perhaps there is much more to our 'club' than what happens on a Saturday afternoon. This is something I could get used to.

So I suppose the questions are then, if the Community team lost their funding, would the Club fully fund them.
If and when MM moves on, will the Chairman and CEO make it a contractual obligation for the new manager to carry on MM's good work.

That's why I chose Shrewsbury town, and I'm so happy I did.I don't really think there's another club out of the whole 92 that means so much to not just a town,or city but a whole county.Well done salop.
