With most of our transfer business seems to have been done (just JG and JLAA to come in now?) , where do fans think we will finish this season? Would you take finishing 20th after the shambles last time?
I personally think this squad is more than good enough to avoid a relegation scrap.
I think finishing about 12th is quite achievable especially after the likes of Fleetwood,Rochdale and Chesterfield managed to do better than that following promotion from League 2.
I do have this feeling that , with a bit of luck, we could really surprise a few in this division.

If anybody is happy with us finishing 20th really does lack ambition!! I honestly think that our current squad is very capable of finishing inside the top half and maybe have an outside chance of reaching the play offs.

Not seen the new squad play yet so its a bit difficult to judge.
Looks more likely we'll start the season with Goldson and Woods, and probably Grandison too which is good news. Defensively we should do ok and the mild field now seems to have more options and creative players
The nagging doubt would be over where goals will come from. In tight games we'll really need to take out chances and while our strikers and good and hard working I'm not sure they are that clinical in front of goal
As a starting point staying up would be fine, but definitely hoping we do better and have a sound base to work on post Christmas and get a top half finish

Think people are being overly optimistic like the last time we got promoted to League 1. I remember when we signed Paul Parry people predicted we would hit the play offs. Let's be a bit realistic and realise we aren't a big fish in a small pond now and adjust expectation accordingly.
That said we have a better team than last time and I expect us to have a slow start and eventually settle around the 13th mark in the table. Bit of a step up for some players and it will take a few games to adjust, that said I think after that we'll get some good results against some of the average teams and be okay. Can't see us getting results against the bigger teams though.
Grandison and AA to sign, 13th and a cup run and I'll be happy.

I think we will do very well and be in the top 10 and hopefully push for a place in top 6. That's what the club will be aiming for as well I expect!

I think top 12 is realistic. If we have a good start maybe push for that last play off place.

I think we will finish higher than some predicted but not as high as some hoped.

I have seen all the pre season games and I predict a finish of 16th.

I don't think we're going to utterly outplay teams like we did last year, but I do think we'll surprise a few.
I see no reason why anyone should score against us cheaply considering Leicester, Norwich and Blackpool didn't last year.

I think we'll be far more competitive than the last time we played in League One and the player recruitment just shows what a load of baloney all the talk then was of nobody wanting to play for Shrewsbury because of its geographical position, lack of nightlife etc
I think above mid-table is attainable. Getting anywhere near the play-offs would be a fantastic achievement.

Can't see way we can't be in the top 6 myself. Crest of a wave competition for places, look what Rotherham did. Top 6 in the mix for me as Mellons got his head screwed on and focused.

Lower mid table. Anything better would be a nice bonus.

Micky Mellon and his staff and team will not be happy with lower table, and I am reasonably confident with the squad they have put together it will be a top half finish at the very least. It is only Division 3!

I have seen all the pre season games and I predict a finish of 16th. 16th for me too. I think people are forgetting what a step up it is. If you look at some of our average/solid performers last year, Wes and Ellis - they came from really bog standard perennial struggler League 1 teams in Oldham and Crewe. I don't think we are suddenly going to light up League 1. I appreciate we have some talented players elsewhere in the squad but if you take those 2 as an average benchmark of the quality of our team then if we get above mid table I woukld be chuffed. Obviously hope I'm wrong and we storm it.

It's all so random.
We've got fans saying there or thereabouts regarding the playoffs, whilst others saying lower midtable if we're lucky!
I don't think anybody really knows.

Very true, who could have predicted how well Wycombe would do last year? It's very nice to go into a League One season with a bit of optimism though. I remember a similar thread done before our relegation season and we all knew the season ahead was going to be a struggle.

We are very strong at the moment the Centre Back and Central Midfield. I'm hopeful that Tootle and Sadler slot in and make us a tight defensive unit again this season. This will be the key to any success this season as I can't see us scoring goals for fun.
Frankly I have no idea where we'll end up. L1 last season gives me hope that we can push Top 10 but who knows? Last season I was happy to lump on us winning the league. This season I'll be keeping my powder dry!

Lower mid-table, clinching safety after the Easter weekend double-header with Vale and Walsall.
Better hope we have the points on the board as April looks like the month of death!
