England will bowl the Aussies out before end of play today, I don't think the Aussies were expecting this English response after the last Ashes 5-0 rout!

That'll do nicely! Root surely MotM - almost 200 runs and 2 wickets as well!

Wow Brilliant win by England with over a day to spare. Really disciplined performance by England throughout the test match, especially by the bowlers.

Probably Shane Watson's last game for Australia in 5 day Tests. Almost certain to be replaced by Mitch Marsh.

Probably Shane Watson's last game for Australia in 5 day Tests. Almost certain to be replaced by Mitch Marsh. I don't think it'll be his last test but I'll certinaly be very surprised if he wasn't dropped. There's a great picture doing the rounds with a caption of Lehman telling him he's dropped. Watson's captioned response is to review! Haha. Lots of talk here of Haddin being on borrowed time too. I expect 2 changes with Siddle coming in for Starc and Marsh for t**tto.

I'll miss Leg Before Watson when he goes.
Aussies apparently confident that Starc will be fit, certainly hope he isn't. Lords will probably suit him best and I still think he's their most dangerous bowler.

Just done some research into Root's bowling, as I noticed his test average is down to 39 now. 6 wickets this year at 27.5 to go with his runs at mid-70s.

Moeen seems to have the ability to get vital wickets, despite being expensive.
Warner's wicket in the last over before lunch was the real turning point of the Australian 2nd innings.

Don't think we were bowling that badly. Obviously badly, but this pitch has been horrendous and it's precisely why people are put off cricket. No excitement at all and I gave up watching a while ago, although I'm sure we'll do our best to lose the match.

This pitch is an absolute bore.
I know we are trying to negate the threat of their quicks, but if this is what we will be playing on for the rest of the summer then I am not looking forward to it.

London Highways Department have offered to buy the pitch at the end of the match.

Not least because if, like today, we don't win the toss we will be under the cosh all through the game. Quite worried about this, apparently Lord's has been turning sharply on the latter days so Lyon might instigate our mandatory collapse.

Cardiff is usually the damp squib in terms of the pitch giving absolutely nothing away and sides putting together innings of 400-500 runs and not being able to bowl each other out.
Had it not been for some inspired England bowling and questionable Aussie decision making then we could be in a situation now where the first two tests have been complete write-offs.
Heads should roll with whats happened with the Lords pitch. Absolutely dire to watch.

We always blow it at Lords against the Aussies anyhow don't we?

We always blow it at Lords against the Aussies anyhow don't we? Won the last 2 against them there. Typical Lord's road of recent years. Seeing as the pitch never really breaks up you should be able to save the match by not losing 20 wickets on it inside 3 days. Presuming we don't save the follow on of course. All about above at that ground, if it cloudy it may swing, if not it is a batting paradise.

Good 80 minutes for England. Roughed up Rogers, got 2 wickets including another Clarke failure and the run rate has slowed a little. Best we could have hoped for really. Let's try and bowl them out for under 475 which isn't a HUGE score.

Another couple of wickets for Root. He'll have a better bowling average than Ali by the end of the series at this rate! I'm worried that there seems to have been encouragement for the bowlers today, don't want anything to encourage the Mitchellls (just realised their seam attack is 75% Mitchell).

Far from convinced by Lyth in his short test match career to date.
Good analysis there from Ponting about his weakness outside off stump to left arm bowlers.

Hmmmm I'm hoping that after we had a fantastic result in the first match we now don't get embarrassed playing at our home ground; although that may be too late now! How we can constantly go from being so dominant to being so poor?
