From ESPN Cricinfo;
Sussex paceman Tymal Mills, widely regarded as England's brightest hope of unearthing a genuinely fast bowler, may be forced to give up first-class cricket after revealing he has a serious back condition.
The 22-year-old joined Sussex from Essex last winter but broke down at the start of the season. He has since been diagnosed with a narrow spinal cord and doctors have warned him that prolonged spells of bowling could cause him mobility problems in later life.
Mills may now have to restrict himself to limited-overs cricket.
"I have accepted that I might not have a future in first-class cricket," Mills told ESPN Cricinfo. "It is absolutely gutting and I had a very difficult 48 hours when I first heard the news.
"I haven't completely given up on the dream of playing Test cricket but, realistically, it looks as if my future may be in the shorter formats. I still want to play 50-over and T20 cricket."

And we're off. England unchanged, Aus as expected.

Lyth gone quickly, but what's going on with Cook? Strike rate of 67 so far!

Since I said that, Cook failed to score again and then got out. I'll shut up now!

I am developing an outrageous man crush on Joe Root. What a player.

Pretty even at the moment. Hopefully we can push on past 400. Bell's place must be under threat now, surely?

Great days cricket. Nip and tuck, both teams looking vulnerable and then seizing the advantage at various times. England will be the slightly happier of the two sides I would imagine

Great days cricket. Whenever 1 side got on top, the other brought the game back into the balance. That wicket at the end means it's pretty close. I'd probably rather be England but if we lose 3 for 20 at the hands of the 2 Mitchell's bouncing out our tail then I'll be concerned. Jimmy is the key, need him to take early wickets after lunch (hopefully). Very annoyed that it's not on over here! Channel 9 have put it on some HD channel that doesn't work on FOXTEL.

England will be the happiest of the two after the first day won't they? Having been in a hole 3 down early doors that's a fairly decent total at the minute. Great that we're under way. Superb stuff. Just got to find a way to tune into TMS at work now...

Haddin's dropping of Root was possibly a game changer.
On such fine margins are games won and lost.

And the beard strikes again! I was unsure whether he should have been in the side but he's done a cracking job with bat and ball so far.

Good day for England. I see a first innings lead of fifty and then a massive final innings shoot out where England will be favourites with the Aussies having to bat last on a wearing surface.

So far so good for England on this crucial 3rd day.
Disappointed to see Cook and Ballance go cheaply, great opportunity for Ian Bell to show what he's made of.

200 lead, 3 wickets down. Would have snapped your hand off for that at the start of the day. However after claiming such a good lead it's a bit disappointing. I thought Lyth needed to use his feet to Lyon just before he got out. Bell looking good!!

Bayliss looks like he's already improved our fielding significantly! If Bell fails here having got himself in, I do wonder whether it might be Bairstow time. Still, any lead over 250 should be tricky to chase, although obviously we should get more than that.

Well done Ian Bell. Under a lot of pressure and he's played a lovely positive knock. 271-3, England shouldn't lose from here.

Would have liked 40 more, but we really should win anyway. If we lose now then it's hats off to the Aussies and shame on us. Once again just as the pressure mounts and Bell's place looks in jeopardy he pulls out a decent knock. Hopefully it will follow the previous pattern, and he'll score a mountain of runs.

"Wouldn't it be great to see a Warner ton today!! See you after the break"
Mark Nicholas is such a turncoat. Channel 9 focusing on the bad pitch, the poor umpiring decisions against Australia (apparently the plumb LBW they didn't appeal for or review was the umpires fault!!) and lucky moments by the English.
Let's get amongst them, gwan Jimmy!!

Dreadful start to his bowling, great response. His does have this wicket-taking knack, however expensive he is.
