He was actually released after Simpson had gone.

That's a big step but good luck to him. I was surprised we released him as he obviously had potential. His finishing wasn't good then but he's clearly improved.
Pity we couldn't have been more patient - mind you, I don't recall any great outcry on here when he went so best not to be wise after the event.

Watched him regular in the youths and reserves lad had potential but looked too lightweight for me and wasn't surprised he was released, fair play hes improved no end but that's football....

Could have quite easily gone the other way and we could have kept him for 5 years without him improving or holding down a starting place....

Fair do's - he doesn't look that lightweight anymore, looks as if he has the build to make a success in the leagues. It will be interesting to see how he does in the coming season.

I remember him pre-season in that season at the end of which he was released. He looked the one bright spark in the middle of a threadbare cupboard. Do we need reminding of Kris Bright, Lewis Neale etc.?

That'll reduce the damage of ex player scoring against us then!

Lads will be light weight, the club should give them time to fill out and bulk up. Isn't that what a nutrionist is for?

So we release him 4 years ago, he has yet to start a league game in his career while during that time we have reached league 1- but we should have been more patient (paying out 60 - 100k)?
He has done well in the conference and maybe a late developer compared to players like Bradshaw , Taylor , Goldson who are only a little older.
I say good luck to him except if he ever plays against us :-)
The club has moved on and so has Andre ..... You can say a few players have had potential over the years but the club made the call to release them e.g.. Marco Adaggio (better song than player) or the Tolley clan who never lived up to expectation ( weren't the brother or was it cousins were meant to be better than him?)
If you look at the clubs record in regards releasing players there are only a few who have consistently played above level we have achieved? I can only think of Ross Draper. You may argue Mark Pugh but we really didn't, develop him and that has been shown as a very poor piece of judgement!
There are other e.g. Davies but these are players who left us rather than being released?

Championship newcomers Brentford have signed Luton Town striker Andre Gray for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old, who netted 30 goals to finish as the Conference Premier's top scorer last season, has signed a three-year deal with the Bees. Gray joined the Hatters from Hinckley United in 2012, initially on loan. Meanwhile, 25-year-old goalkeeper David Button has signed a new-three year contract with Brentford, keeping him at Griffin Park until 2017. Button arrived from Charlton last summer and went on to play 42 times as the Bees finished as runners-up to Wolves in League One. Gray, who had a year remaining on his Luton deal, has never started a game in the Football League, although he made five substitute appearances for Shrewsbury in the 2009-10 season. The England C international scored 52 goals in 97 league games during his time at Luton. "Andre has tremendous pace, good movement and a clear eye for goal," Brentford manager Mark Warburton told the club website. "Andre is a player we have tracked and who has just completed an outstanding season in helping Luton achieve promotion and a return to the Football League. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28055793
