Of course, there's still one game left for them all to get crippled, a la Woodgate. I think we're gonna miss that guy.

The England midfield is gonna be interesting. Becham and Gerrard are certains, so thats the right and right side taken care of, so Lampard, Scholes, Butt are available amongst others. Personally I would play Lampard alongside Gerrard with Becks left and Gareth Barry left.

I'd put Beckham, Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard in. I know none of those are naturally left sided players but I'd still pick em.

But where would Sam Ricketts play?
And don't say "at the Gay Meadow"

So often England players get injured at about this time of the season. I just hope we are more lucky this tournament.

I don't think the England midfield is going to be a problem in euro 2004 but the lack of a decent and in form goalkeeper is!
And with the 2 (arguably) best central defenders missing in Woodgate and Ferdinand + the return to fitness of Gary neville at right back after missing the world cup campaign, does anyone still think Mills is good enough to be Englands answer to psycho at left back? I for one don't.
And as for the front players well Owen and Heskey looked good last night but Birmingham were s**t in def and France won't be will they.
Wouldn't be suprised to see England not even making it out of the qualifiying groups

Goalkeepers - Kirkland (if fit) and Robinson Left Back - Jamie Carragher - immensely versatile and no danger of 'doing a Neville' and giving away a few penalties. Times his tackles to perfection, superb squad player Owen and Heskey up front, there are plenty of examples of those two + Steven Gerrard forming an awesome team, put Lampard into tht and it would be fantastic. My midfield: Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes. Murphy as backup (fat chance of that)

I would never play Lampard, he just doesn't cut it for me. The Cole ahead of Bridge argument doesn't hold either. It's certainly tricky. Sinclair's not fabulous, but he's a winger, and did well against Argentina on the world's biggest stage. Joe Cole -no. McManaman's still got a good brain and a nice range of passing. But for me it's Dyer, if fit. If not, then I think Gerrard is the one player England have who could impress whatever position he was played in, with Butt slotting in alongside Scholes. If it wasn't for Henry, Gerrard would have walked player of the season. Those two are in a class of their own, ahead of Pires, Keane, Scholes, Van Nist, and even Vieira

I was a tad worried about the central defence with Rio and Woodgate out but I think Terry has done enough in the last few weeks to calm me nerves...think he'll do well along side big Sol. I think Southgate can still do a job too... Thats the worry with Neville, the only alternative is Mills...

Surely Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole are choices for left-back. I'd be comfortable with either there, especially Bridge who I think has settled into the Chelsea side well - he has the added plus that he can cross the ball well too.
