I'm sure that we're all familiar with this belter of a song. What are people's thoughts? I think it's quite catchy myself, even if the lyrics are a little dated. Why don't we play it on a match-day as a nod to our past? Makes more sense than playing Andy Williams, Cheryl Cole, Eye of the Tiger and such other e.

Many clubs play their own songs from the past, Everton play 'Its a grand old team to play for', the Red Mancs play 'United Calypso', Leeds play 'Marching On Together' and even our A49 friends play 'Hereford United we all love you' which was recorded in the 1970's (bleurgh), maybe making the club aware of this would be a decent idea as the pre match music is truly awful, play Barry Ellis just before the teams emerge from the tunnel with CUIYC as they come out...

It's a shame in a way that the lyrics are so specifically centred around that particular season, or it could have been our equivalent of 'Marching On Together'.
It is an absolute pre-requisite that we should play the following songs on a match-day, BEFORE the game:
1) Barry Ellis & Friends 2) Fly The Flag (2003 FA Cup) 3) Catch Us If You Can cover (Hello Cleveland) 4) Catch Us If You Can (Dave Clark 5)
Whitfield - any chance?

Cringeworthy. Lets stick with Catch Us If You Can Hold your horses old feller! No one is suggesting that we should dispense with the iconic CUIYC. This thread is about getting the above song played on a matchday. It is a damn sight more appropriate than anything by Bruno Mars or Avril Lavigne and so on.
It might be cringeworthy, but at least it's ours.

Always hated this song, not everything from the past is worth bringing back. You would rather listen to One Direction, I presume? Let's not forget that the New Meadow is primarily a football stadium and the music should reflect this.

Hell of an intro that'd be! But it's not all about me so you're all spared ;P

Sorry Geoff, even the past history requires some quality control
I am with Jamo, it is cringeworthy - just played it but had to stop before it got half way through
On reflection I am not sure why I replied - this is surely just a wind-up

I actually bought this as a naive 16 year old and it now stays in my loft gathering dust where it belongs. Truely awful song and I'd rather listen to a recording of a gathering of Tomcat cats during mating season that that s****

Quite surprised by the somewhat negative reaction to this. It's a bit dated, sure, but I also think it's pretty catchy and is a nice little nod towards our history. I'd certainly be in favour of this being played in the fifteen minutes or so before kick-off, or at half time.

Oi Whitfied, can you fix it for me to have Cheryl Cole lap dance a greasy pole to the tune of CUIYC in front of block 14?

There was a song someone put on here ages ago on myspace that his band had done specifically about the town. Was really good, and would have been a properly good anthem. If anyone can dig it out, I'd love to have a listen again! Edit: Found it! www.myspace.com/bladesofangelsThe Blue, The Amber by Blades of Angels.

I'd rather have Time For Heroes by The Libertines (lyric in KL8's footer) - especially if the lyric was altered to match what KL8 has!

Sorry but KL8 has lost it. Fly the Flag was good for being on the news and stuff but otherwise was poor really... Shall we have the Macclesfield 28 y/o bloke skiping around and dad dancing at half time as well?

Not sure why anyone would take your opinion on football seriously anyway. In the past you have praised the clip art lion, announced your preference for all-seater stadia and cheered gleefully when STFC players have succumb to injury.
You, young man, are everything wrong with the game.

You, young man, are everything wrong with the game. I remember that naff song... Your facts have been poor lately. First your predictions in education then claiming I like Clipart. Seem to have gone downhill lately, even the insults have lost bite. I am a young enfusiastic fan with a passion for the game. I care about the beautiful game including the way its played like people used to. You are too busy thinking about badges and the decibells of 5000 people to watch the game. What is wrong with modern football comes more from money, greed and a loss of the general fans love of the game. Most of the stuff you profess to love you hardly experienced. Football when we had terraces and football was less family friendly are glorified, there is a reason things changed. My view as a Football fan is that people should stop wobbling their lip about what goes on off the feild and watch the bloody game.
