And Scu*thorpe losing 2-0 - could go down to the last game if things stay the same
Will Carlisle escape again?
They play Doncaster next Sat - if they win today, and win at Donny, it'll hard to say they don't deserve to stay up.

Personally I hope they go down.
There is a guy on our university campus with a poster in his window saying 'Carlisle Utd, performing miracles since 1999'

yes they've got 11,000 in for todays game, not bad at all for bottom of the league, but i suppose people in Carlisle must only turn up to the last 5-10 home games, as they know there is little chance of winnin gmany games before then.
And they were about 20 points behind at Christmas!
I hope they do go down ,they may deserve to stay up after there last however many games, but they have been on the edge for far too long.
and there chairman or someone said on footy focus to day that he thought it was a realistic expectation of the near future that they could be a decent 1st division side.
Maybe, but when they've been stuck in the same position in the same league for the last 4/5 years then they have to move up or down sometime, surely.

Rochdale now losing. Part of me admires there second half of the season recovery, part of me hopes they'll get relegated

Well before Christmas they were getting gates of 4-6,500 and that was when they were losing and losing badly.
Now they've started winning, despite being at the bottom of the league their getting anything from 7-11,000. So fair play.
Carlisle are in a position whereby there are no other league clubs within however many miles of the place and they've always had decent attendances.
I think the ground holds 15,000+, this combined with their loyal support means that if they sorted out their performances on the pitch (they've hit championship form sinse Christmas) there would be no real reason as to why Carlisle couldnt become a decent first division team.

Obviously we know exactly how it feels to lose football leaue status, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, except maybe Manchester United , but my opinion is that Carlisle 'deserve' more than anyone esle to go down.

As are Leicester, Wolves virtually relegated due to far inferior goal difference. five live just said Carlisle were 'cheered off the field by a crowd of 9 and a hald thousand'. Unsure whether this means just home fans though.

i hope we replace them next year as i think they will be very strong next year in the conference and will certainly take our mantle as the biggest team in the division.
their form since Xmas has been outstanding so in a funny way the team is coming down in winning form.

Totally agree, I would rather have had Sc***horpe or Macclesfield come down. Teams who have been consitantly poor all season. I've no idea what happened during Carlisle's awful 1st half to the season, but the past 25 games have produced play off form. If they keep the majority of their squad then I do believe they will be the team to beat next season. We came down on the back of 8 straight loses and finished 3rd! Even when they were nailed to the bottom and had won only 1 in 21, they were getting 4,000 crowds which is very impressive. They might not have the away support that we have due to them not having many local teams, but they will surely have one of, if not the biggest average gates ever in the Conference.
