Could only listen on the radio so I might not have the full picture, but I only heard O Connors name mentioned a handfull of times during the second half and not many more during the first. We needthis guys skill and experience more than at anyother time during the season now, and he really should be at the heart of things.

same here, I didn't hear his name all evening. We needed a battler in the midfield but we didn't have one this evening.

for the last half hour of the first half tolley and o connor were running the midfield and sam was killing them down the left and ryan put in some great crosses on the right! but as soon as they came out for the second half they never got into the game the centre of midfeild was non existent well to be honest all of the midfield went missing

Couldn't agree more, midfield was class first half, Tolley in particular, second half non-existant. I think Tolle ywas a little lucky not to be sent off too.

martin oconnor held the team together when challis went off. he was the only one who seemed to direct sam to left back. he was the only one urging the team on. quinn and cooke stood like puppets with the void chic bates 3 yards on the other side of the dugout.
MOC was using his experience and skill. He was at the heart of managing the team second half.
MOC was one of the names put forward for man of the match.

I thought he was one of our better players first half but (along with the rest of the team!!) he disappeared totally after the break.
an utterly disappointing result after the magnificent performance in the first half. That's as well as I've seen us play all season (I wasn't at the hereford game so apologise if that was better). We were committed and strong in the tackle and seemed to be able to win the ball back at will.
Sam was frightening the life out of them down the left and put in his best 45 mins for a long while. The midfield were strong and Moss and Challis looked very composed (especially Moss, who I thought had a great game). How we didn't go in at half time in the lead I will never know. Sam hit the post after a fantastic move and a pull back from Rodgers and how their keeper kept out Darby's header with a world class save I will never know.
After the break it was a totally different story. Barnet battered us non stop and we had no answer.
It would perhaps have been fairer if we'd held out for a draw as on the strength of our first half performance I think we just about deserved it but I can't really have any complaints about the result and I still think we'll beat them at the Meadow.
COME ON SALOP

Interesting that people not at the game make such definite conclusions (I do it myself so not knocking you...... ) O'Connor was my man of the match. He was excellent creatively first half and second half continued to break things up when Barnet came at us. He has really hit his stride. As Matt says, the guy is a born leader. We were down to 10 men and struggling and whilst our management team dithered about, O'Connor demanded a substitution and also got the team motivated. Other honourable mentions for the night go to Challis, Moss and Ridler (they had the game tied up until the final moment of slack marking), Luke Rodgers for another super-charged display, Lowe and Aiston for their creativity first half. Tolley worked very hard but attacking wise has lost it for this season. Darby has lost his form. His ball retention tonight was abysmal and even his great header and good work ethic can't mask the fact that he's struggling at the moment. Still think he might be the guy to get the goals on Monday though. Let's stay calm for 4 more days at least.....
