Thanks to the generosity of my work colleagues I have his signed shirt from the dream team game for my birthday.
Apart from his playing something like 200 games for the club I must confess I don't know anything about him - does anyone have any specific recollections?
Is he featured in any of the photos on Matt Ashton's site?

It was my birthday on Friday Phil - 400 years younger than William Shakespeare to the day.
I think Wayne Williams probably played for us about 30 years ago.

Wayne Williams was an excellent full-back who played for the Town at their peak in the early 80's. I was only a young 'un then but remember him being pretty quick and having good balance, but he had a bad ankle injury if I remember right and was never quite as good following it.

Wayne Williams was born in Telford and came through the youth scheme in the early 1980's. His face didn't fit when Ian McNeil came in but he played in some of our best ever seasons.
I think he is in finance/insurance now, he was doing it when he was still a player at Town.

Wayne always seemed to be at the soccer schools with Steve Perks, both of whom were true gents to us Wenlock lads.
He played well in the only game I saw him in ;D

Williams also had spells with Northampton Town and the Walsall.
I once met him on accident while on Holiday in Barmouth (Wales). His kids were on the fair at the time, as were my fammily. I had a good old natter to him.
Top Bloke.
