"Going up this way would be better than winning the Championship" No more evidence required............ The man is clearly not a complete set of studs

I completely agree with Quinn s sentiments. To go up via the playoffs will mean we ve all had a bloomin good day out and drunk a few beers after.Look at ther day out we had saturday and we didn t even win.Lets hope there is more days out like that starting at Stoke on May 16th

Its the biggest load of bs I've ever read in my life from someone in his position considering how important League status is to STFC.
Second only to some of the utter twaadle posted by people trying to defend the Clubs decision not to make Mondays game all ticket.
Excellent thread that one and well done to Shrews & Royals,Davefromalty etc for the views and opinions posted.I had to hold back from entering the discussion through fear of getting myself banned on here but well done again to those mentioned above and to others of like minded view.

Right, lets look at what your wonderful leader has says. You have to choices Choice 1 To have watched the cr@p performances over the last few months, then to go through the worry of the last fews days over getting tickets for Barnet. If we beat Barnet and then go on and win the final, yes it will be a good day out. Choice 2 We win 6 more games during the season, this means a home win against Aldershot and away wins at Stevenage, Exeter, Dagenham, Hereford and Telford. Well there's at least two great days out in there. Also over the last 3/4 games it's been nothing but excitement and joy as we close in on the Championship. This finishes with a last day draw at Morecambe to clinch the title. I know which season is far more exciting an enjoyable and it ain't choice 1.

Choice 1 is more dramatic though - I don't see what the problem is?
In 99/00 it would have been better to have won 3 more games as opposed to winning @ Exeter to secure survival - but the last one is regarded by many as one of their most exciting days of their lives.
I'm not sure if that comes over very well...

Oh come on guys, give the man a break... he didn't say getting in the play-offs is better than winning the league, he said going up via the play-offs can be more exciting than winning the league outright. 1,000 fans celebrating winning the title at Morecambe, or 14,000 celebrating promotion in Stoke? I know which I'd go for.

Since when has being a town fan been easy? yes it would have been great to waltz through this league and have won the title by the middle of march, but where is the gut wrenching bowel tightening agony in that? As long back as i can remember watching the town has been about moments of extreme joy and dispair, with a generous amount of tedium thrown in. Looking back though, last minute welsh cup victory against wrexham, promotion to div 2 last game of season against exeter (4-1) win we go up as champs, draw go up, lose stay down, away bristol to reach autowindscreens, exeter2000 etc etc. the almost orgasmic joy of winning games like these still brings goosebumps up on me arms. Point being yes win title great, but now we are in position of reproducing one of those never to be forgotten occasions, enjoy!!

I agree with Bazeus and the others. The words STFC ands sheer agony go together like Morecambe and Wise!!! Anyway, we haven't gone up as Champions so what do we expect the manager to say "Oh well, the playoffs are useless, a waste of time, don't bother to come, it won't be worth going up this way" ? Wouldn't we really have been mad and angry to hear this. Come on he's got to be positive and so have we. Come on You Blues.
