Not being one to hide my Shrewsbury Town allegiances, I am a figure of (occasional) mirth and bewilderment in an office of 850 people, based in Crawley, West Sussex; where the fan base is predominantly Brighton , Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Spurs, Chelsea etc. However, the team I work in is headed by a Baggies fanatic, Herrish, who I share a bit of Midlands based banter. We have recently had a new starter, a pretty, dark haired girl called Collette, join our team. She came round to my desk this afternoon to arrange a meeting and after the work was out of the way she mentioned that she had heard from Herrish that I was from Shrewsbury and that she used to live there too. She then said the reason was that her dad used to play for the Town, surname of McNally! I almost dropped of my chair. Daughter of the great Bernard McNally, who I used to watch as a kid. Cue a great chat about the magnificent team of the eighties and childhood heroes, much to the amusement of those around us. Apparently her old man is now at the Baggies as a coach, and hoping to go into management..... Fair cheered up a boring day. I've now got a partner in crime!

Bernie was a good servant to the Town, even played internationals while signed for us, can't remember how much he went for in the end though? Perhaps you could ask Bernies daughter collette to pm me Wychers so she can confirm with me ;D

Well, if i wasn't engaged I would have suggested a date with the town at the upcoming playoffs!
As the saying goes, I must pump her for more Shrews related trivia!

I remember her as a youngster, my daughter went to a birthday party with her at Burger King in Pride Hill, it was a kids party of a mutual friend of Me and Bernie.
What I remember most about it was that Bernie had just come back from Mexico with the Northern Ireland World Cup Squad, and he was wearing the NI shirt with a big suntan.

Bernie was a bit of a bible-basher wasn't he?
Didn't like to play on a Sunday.
